Former councillor Parvinder Lapran goes back to BJP

Ludhiana: Former councillor Parvinder Lapran rejoined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of its national general secretary Tarun Chugh at the party's election office on Ferozepur Road. Lapran was expelled from the party during the MC elections last year. After his wife was denied a councillor ticket from ward 51, he decided to contest as an independent candidate, which led to his expulsion with a few other local leaders. He was formally inducted back into the party at the BJP office by Tarun Chugh, in the presence of state BJP cashier Gurdev Sharma Debi, district president Rajnesh Dhiman, and BJP leader, advocate Bikram Sidhu. Addressing the gathering, Chugh said, "The party needs hard-working workers to strengthen its base among voters. The BJP is like a big family and we welcome new members into this family." Chugh also expressed confidence about an impending election victory for the BJP. Meanwhile, Lapran thanked party leaders for giving him a chance. He said that he was inspired by the policies of PM Narendra Modi and felt that a double engine government was needed in Punjab. He said that Punjab, as well as Ludhiana, lagged in terms of development and only the BJP could save it. Initially, Lapran was in the Congress, but he decided to leave the party when Simarjit Singh Bains joined it. He was a councillor during the Congress tenure.
