Soori's Family Drama Maaman Set For OTT And TV Premiere On Same Day
The streaming rights for Soori's film were sold to Zee5 but the release date has not been announced.
Maaman, which hit theatres in May, turned out to be a box office success and struck a chord with audiences as a heartwarming Tamil family drama. Starring Soori and Aishwarya Lekshmi, the film explores the emotional bond between an uncle and his nephew — a storyline rarely seen on screen. After its successful theatrical run, fans have eagerly awaited its digital debut. Now, adding to the excitement, the makers have confirmed that the film will have a simultaneous release on both OTT and satellite platforms.
Earlier, it was reported that the streaming rights for Soori's film were sold to Zee5, but the release date was not announced. Now, the streaming giant has announced in a post on X that the film will be released on both OTT and satellite platforms on the same day. However, the date has not yet been confirmed. The post read 'Idhuku mela enna sir venum…Biggest Family Blockbuster #Maaman – World TV and OTT Premiere Coming Soon!"
The storyline of Maaman revolves around Inba's unusual bond with his nephew Laddu. Since childhood, the former has been incredibly kind and attentive towards his nephew. Later, as Inba falls in love with Rekha and prepares to marry, Laddu emerges as a precocious and adamant presence in their lives, threatening the couple's equation at difficult times. After many conflicts, Rekha and Inba decide to go away and reside in Madurai. However, Laddu misses his uncle a lot, making him more remorseful. Maaman offers an entertaining story rich with authentic Tamil cultural flavours, emotional sentiments, and thrilling action sequences, all based on human storytelling that resonates strongly with the audience.
Apart from Soori and Aishwarya Lekshmi, Maaman stars Swasika, Prageeth Sivan, Bala Saravanan, Jayaprakash, and others in prominent parts. This combination of experienced artists helped the picture to effectively weave together excellent character-driven moments and action-packed situations. It was written and directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj and produced by Lark Studios. Hesham Abdul Wahab composed the background score. Maaman marks Soori and Lark Studios' second collaboration, following the success of their 2024 film Garudan.
