'Explosion' on Las Vegas strip after car 'flees scene': 'It sounded like a bomb'
An explosion has rocked the Las Vegas strip with dramatic footage showing flames erupting outside the Aria Resort and Casino. The fire began near a vehicle just off the strip, quickly engulfing at least two palm trees in front of the luxury hotel, according to witnesses on social media. Footage shared online shows black smoke billowing into the sky as fire crews race to contain the blaze. No injuries have been reported and there is no damage to nearby hotels, according to initial reports. Witnesses described the terrifying moment flames burst into view. 'Big explosion. We just heard what sounded like a bomb. Right in front of the Aria,' one bystander said in a video shared from the scene. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have now issued a statement confirming the cause of the fire. 'We are investigating a small fire in the 3700 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard,' the department said. 'The fire was contained to a small area and was extinguished quickly. It was learned that an occupant in a vehicle threw fireworks causing a tree to catch fire.' Firefighters remain at the scene as the investigation continues. In a video posted from the scene, TikToker Baby Khaled claimed he and others 'heard an explosion' and then spotted a car speeding away from the area. Khaled shared footage of the skidding vehicle and declared: 'Let's find this car.' Other witnesses also flooded social media with clips of the blaze erupting outside the Aria Resort and Casino. The explosion outside the Aria Resort and Casino comes just days after a fatal shooting shook the Las Vegas Strip on Sunday night. A man and his wife were gunned down near the iconic Bellagio fountains in what police described as an 'isolated incident' involving individuals who were known to each other.

1 killed, at least 3 injured in shooting in Las Vegas gym; suspect dead, police say
A shooting inside a Las Vegas gym Friday afternoon left one person dead and at least three others injured, police said. The suspect was also killed. One person was killed at the Las Vegas Athletic Club on the city's west side as gunfire erupted, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Undersheriff Andrew Walsh said. The suspect in the shooting was also confirmed dead at a local hospital, police said in a social media post. A heavy police presence was seen along North Rainbow Boulevard, but Walsh said there was no longer a threat to the public. Las Vegas Metro Police officers confer by the main entrance of a Las Vegas Athletic Club after a shooting on Friday, May 16, 2025, in Las Vegas. Steve Marcus / AP Three people who were injured were transported to local hospitals, with one in critical condition, a spokesperson with the police department said at a news conference. Officials said they are still investigating a motive. "They said 'Get out, get out, get out,'" Claudio Vigani, a witness who was at the gym when the shooting began, told CBS affiliate KLAS-TV. "Then I saw the dead guy next to the machine." Gary Steward, who was headed to the gym with another person, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that a stop at a nutrition store saved their lives. He said if they hadn't stopped, they would have been at the front desk where the shooter entered. They saw glass breaking as they walked up to the gym and ran back to the parking lot. "It's just a weird feeling right now," Steward said. "It's strange. Who shoots up a gym?" Calls to the athletic club and its corporate office went unanswered. The University Medical Center confirmed it received four patients, with one in critical condition.

Mansion owner was enjoying vacation...then nightmarish phone call left her feeling sick and 'violated'
A Las Vegas homeowner says her vacation was ruined after receiving a nightmarish phone call from the police telling her a raucous 200-person party was being held in her mansion. The wild party erupted at Vegas resident Jamie Lewis' home on Saturday night, when cops say hundreds of unruly teens broke in and caused mayhem inside. Footage showed a wave of young people emerging from Lewis' home after police showed up, after they were seen dancing on her countertops and destroying her home decor. Lewis said she was unaware of the chaos at her home until receiving a call from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police at around 10:30pm Saturday night, asking her if she was hosting a huge party. 'I really thought it was a fake call,' she told Fox5Vegas. Lewis said she only realized it was true when her neighbors also called her soon after to warn her that her mansion was being used as a party palace. She said they sent her horrifying videos of the teenagers all around her home, and said that made her race home and 'cut our trip short.' Police believe the wild party was part of a terrifying new trend known as 'mansion partying', where teens break into vacant properties while their owners aren't home and stage huge events inside, often charging for entry to make a profit. Investigators believe the teens entered Lewis' home by kicking in a garage door, and have launched an investigation to determine how they knew Lewis wouldn't be home. The Las Vegas Metro police described the break-in at Lewis' home as a 'juvenile disturbance', and issued only two citations, one for a 'vehicle stop' and one for a 'person stop.' Lewis said she has been left stunned that the unexpected party would take place at her home, and is facing having to pay thousands in repairs including her front door, smoke detectors, and countertops. 'The feeling of being, first of all, vandalized and then just 1000% being violated is something that you just don't ever want to have to deal with,' she said. Lewis said she has shared her footage across social media and is working with the police to track down the perpetrators, adding: 'I have to do something about this. I cannot let this happen to somebody else.' Footage from neighbors captured the moment cops showed up to end the party, which led a mass of the teenagers inside to flee the scene and evade the officers. Hundreds of teens were seen dancing in Lewis' home, and she says she is facing having to pay thousands in repairs including her front door, smoke detectors, and countertops Lewis' elderly neighbor Joe Neal said he was relaxing at home when he was startled by the commotion across his shared fence with Lewis. '(I'm) 77-years-old, and to hear a bunch of noises, and look in your backyard, and it looks like there's a hell of a party going on and you weren't invited,' he joked to Fox5Vegas. He said he went outside at the same time the cops showed up to shut down the party, and was even pushed aside by one of the teens as they used his yard as a getaway route. One of the partiers used a bolt-cutter to cut through the lock on his side fence, a tactic that raised his suspicions over how 'spontaneous' the party really was. 'Who comes to a party and brings bolt cutters?' he questioned. 'They're not somebody wanting to party, that's somebody wanting to steal.' Investigators say the unauthorized party at Lewis' home is not the first-time a mob of teenagers have swarmed an empty home in the area and used it for a wild bash. Neal said one of the partygoers even pushed him out of the way as they evaded cops, and showed off the lock on his side fence that the revelers cut with bolt cutters It is believed that the parties are an organized effort by local youths to occupy a home for a night, and often charge money for other teens to enter to make a profit off the events. Lewis said since sharing her story, she has learned that the party at her home was just one of a spate of break-ins across the area in north-west Las Vegas. 'It's called a mansion party, and these kids go from house to house to house, sometimes multiple houses in the same night. They charge money at the door, they bring in a DJ,' she said. 'Be vigilant for your property, if you see a strange car, if there's too many kids in your neighborhood, something feels off, call the police right away,' she warned.

Shannon Sharpe threatened to kill girlfriend after he livestreamed himself with ANOTHER woman, Jane Doe says
Shannon Sharpe was a severely controlling romantic partner, who lied, cheated, abused and secretly filmed the woman now accusing him of two rapes, according to her $50 million lawsuit against the NFL great. 'Yelling at her, controlling her, forcibly grabbing her by the neck when he got upset, saying he was going to ''kill her,'' and asserting dominance became the norm,' read the filing, which identifies the accuser only as 'Jane Doe.' Sharpe is accused of raping Doe twice in Las Vegas and threatening to kill her in the months after he shockingly livestreamed a sexual encounter with another woman on Instagram – something he claims he did 'on accident.' And while his behavior troubled his now-former girlfriend throughout their year-long relationship, it was after the livestreaming scandal broke that he became increasingly violent, according to the Nevada lawsuit. Now a popular podcaster, Sharpe has denied the lawsuit's allegations and accused the plaintiff of being financially motivated, although his attorney has confirmed the 56-year-old previously offered at least $10 million to settle the case. Las Vegas Metro Police have told Sharpe is not currently being investigated by the department. As explained in the filing, the two met at a Los Angeles gym in 2023 while she was just turning 20-years-old. 'Sharpe would deliberately watch Doe in such a way to make sure she knew he was watching her,' her attorneys wrote in the filing. According to the lawsuit, Sharpe made his romantic intentions clear and even suggested he would 'buy her fake t**s' if she could win a weight-loss competition against him. But while she found the offer 'disturbing,' Doe admittedly 'gave in' to Sharpe and agreed to date. What followed, she claimed, was a series of unsettling sexual encounters with Sharpe and a number of strange demands, including his insistence that she sign a non-disclosure agreement – something she refused. She even believes Sharpe recorded them in bed on their first date. '… without warning, Sharpe placed his hands on Plaintiff's neck from behind, pressed his erect penis against her body, and said his first words of the night: 'I knew from the first time I saw you that I was going to f*** you,' she claimed of her first sexual encounter with Sharpe. 'Doe and Sharpe then engaged in oral sex,' the filing continued. 'As they did so, Doe at some point realized Sharpe was using his phone. He was apparently recording her.' The accuser said she met Sharpe at his home around four times per week despite him treating her 'like an object.' 'He demanded complete control over her time and body, expecting her to be at his house on his schedule, at his command, whenever he called,' read the filing. 'The verbal abuse never stopped. He would berate and degrade Plaintiff, just as he had from the beginning. 'One time specifically, he was yelling at her while there a was a firearm visible in his room. Terrified for her safety, Plaintiff tried sharing her location with friends from her iPhone—just in case. But Sharpe saw her doing this. The moment he realized what she was doing, he grabbed her by the neck and told her 'If you ever do that again, I will f***ing kill you.' And when she tried to pull away from Sharpe following the Instagram livestream scandal, Doe claims Sharpe became irate. 'On October 6, 2024, Plaintiff was working out at a Nevada gym, following her usual routine,' the filing read. 'As she worked out, she saw Sharpe aggressively approaching her. She could tell by his look and the way he moved quickly towards her that he was furious for having been ignored. 'As soon as he got close, he told her, ''Sit the f*** down or I'm going to kill you,''' the filing continued. 'Plaintiff refused. ''I don't want to talk to you. You cheated on me.'' 'His response was dismissive and controlling as usual. ''You don't have a choice.''' Insisting they speak in private, Sharpe allegedly threatened Doe to get into his car before driving to her apartment, where she claimed he demanded they go to the bedroom. 'She said no,' the filing explained. 'He didn't listen, nor did he care. Once inside the bedroom, Sharpe grabbed her from behind and forcibly positioned her to perform oral sex. He held her in place and then forced her to begin performing. He became even angrier and said, 'You've disrespected me so much. I'm going to punish this a**hole. I'm going to make it so no man will want you again.' The filing goes on to describe a violent scene, in which Sharpe allegedly anally raped his then-girlfriend as she sobbed. 'Look at this,' Doe claimed Sharpe told her. 'Look at my arm. I've got chills. That's how good this is.' Months later, Sharpe is accused of arriving at her apartment with the stated intention of delivering a combined Christmas-birthday gift, only to initiate another sexual encounter. But when he allegedly refused to wear a condom, she claimed he grew violent once again. 'Plaintiff never stopped demanding and begging that he stop or put on a condom,' the filing read. 'Sharpe ignored her. 'As soon as he penetrated her, Plaintiff screamed and sobbed. Her cries for help did nothing to stop Sharpe. 'The assault lasted roughly 10 minutes, ending only when Sharpe ejaculated inside her. Plaintiff cried and begged repeatedly for him to stop. Plaintiff left Nevada after the assault.' Sharpe may have threatened to choke his rape accuser on more than one occasion. Plaintiff attorney Tony Buzbee released a second recorded phone call, purportedly between Sharpe and his now-ex. And just like the previous tape, which Sharpe's attorney described as both authentic and misleading, the 56-year-old is again heard sharing his plans to choke his partner. Significantly, the date of the recording is unknown and much of the context around the conversation remains unclear. 'I'm not really interested in getting choked,' the woman is heard saying in the tape recording first published by TMZ. 'I may choke you in public,' a man's voice, believed to Sharpe's, is said heard saying. 'Big black guy chokes small white woman.' The woman responded after a brief pause: 'It's not a good look, Shannon.' 'Not a good look that you did what the s*** you did to me,' the man's voice fired back, although it's difficult to say what he was referring to. has reached out to Sharpe's attorney, Lanny Davis, and Buzbee for further details. The tape is eerily similar to another call previously released by Buzbee's office to in which Sharpe is heard saying: 'I'm gonna f***ing choke the s*** out of you when I see you.' Davis has confirmed the authenticity of that recording, but claimed his client was speaking 'in the heat of the moment' and the violent threat was 'not intended.'

Family of Las Vegas man killed in apparent road rage shooting up posts billboards seeking justice
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The mother of a man killed in what police describe as a road rage incident said she wants the shooter to spend life in prison. To hammer home the point, the family of Elvin Sejdinovic has digital billboards running in Downtown Las Vegas and in the southwest part of the valley asking for justice. 'I need justice, I need justice, I need justice. I need this person to be locked for life in prison. That's all I need,' Velida Husic said. Husic's son Sejdinovic was killed on Oct. 5, 2024, near Decatur Boulevard and Patrick Lane. She said they posted the billboards to spread public awareness. 'My son was only 22 years old, and someone took his life for nothing. Absolutely nothing,' Husic said. According to his family, Sejdinovich was on his way to work when he was killed. 'He didn't go to buy drugs. He didn't go to do some crime or anything illegal. He was going to work, you know? To provide for himself, for his family,' his father Alen Sejdinovic said. Keyun Watts, 25, faces 17 charges related to the Oct. 5 fatal shooting, according to court records. Las Vegas Metro Police officers arrested Watts in November after they obtained photos and video placing Watts at the scene. According to court documents, Watts admitted to the police that he shot Sejdinovic because he felt threatened. Dashcam video 8 News Now obtained from a taxi cab shows Watts in a blue Chevrolet Camaro and Sejdinovich in a white Nissan Versa. Both cars in the video appeared to get close to each other, and at one point, Watts fired eight rounds into Sejdinovich's car striking the 22-year-old twice in the chest, police said. Photos 8 News Now obtained show Sejdinovic's car riddled with bullet holes. 'That day October 5th, he didn't kill only our son. He killed a whole family. Everybody. We have nightmares,' Alen Sejdinovich said. After being shot, Sejdinovich crashed into a pole near Decatur and Patrick, which has been turned into a memorial. Watts' attorney Todd Leventhal said the incident was self-defense and Sejdinovic was using his vehicle as a weapon. 'Does he have any weapons? How is this self-defense? He doesn't have nothing in his car,' Velida Husic said, responding to the attorney's claim. According to Metro police, Watts went to California and removed the stickers and wrap from the Camaro after the shooting. He reportedly drove back from California with the vehicle Nov. 3 and police arrested him the next day. Responding to his client's California visit, Leventhal said people get scared and that does not make what they did wrong. In addition, Leventhal said he has video and statements from witnesses that will show Sejdinovich was the aggressor. Watts is scheduled to appear in court on April 15.
