Cops Catch Suspect Accused of Carjacking WREG Reporter

Police have arrested the man accused of carjacking a WREG reporter at a South Memphis gas station. Lashunaye Railford, 43, has been charged with Carjacking and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony. On Tuesday, WREG reporter Mike Suriani was carjacked while filling up his company vehicle around 10:30 a.m. The suspect, who was wearing a mask, walked up to Suriani with his hand on a gun sticking out of his pocket and demanded the vehicle. The man got away with the car along with all of Suriani's personal items and equipment. Suriani uninjured. The Memphis Police said Railford was found on Wednesday in the Toyota RAV4 when he was taken into custody. His bond has not been set. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The man accused of carjacking a WREG reporter at a South Memphis gas station while he was on assignment Tuesday has been arrested, reports say. Lashunaye Railford, 43, was charged with Carjacking and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony. On Tuesday, Reporter Mike Suriani was approached while attempting to fill up at the Mobil gas station on E.H. Crump Boulevard and Third Street at around 10:30 a.m. Suspect wanted after WREG reporter carjacked at gunpoint in Memphis A man wearing a mask walked up to Suriani with his hand on a gun sticking out of his pocket and demanded his news vehicle. The man got away with the WREG vehicle along with all of Suriani's personal items and equipment. Suriani was left uninjured. The Memphis Police Department says the suspect, identified as Railford, was found on Wednesday in the Toyota RAV4 in the 1700 block of South Orleans Street and was taken into custody.
