Maren Morris Makes Surprising Claim About Meeting Carrie Underwood
When we think of meeting our celebrity idols, we picture waiting in a long meet-and-greet line or standing outside a concert venue late after a sold-out show. Maren Morris has a completely different story about meeting country icon Carrie Underwood for the first time. On a recent clip of her interview from The Howard Stern Show, Morris revealed how she first met the country singer: in a writer's room. When asked who the first big star she got to work with was, Morris replied that her publisher received a call from Underwood's team asking to work with the young singer/songwriter. "That was my first big, like, artist to be in the room with," Morris said. "And I had never even had a song recorded by her. So I felt like that was a really great sign that she just had heard something I had written and loved and was like, 'I want to know who wrote this and write with them.'"Despite writing two pieces, Morris and Underwood's songs from that day were never recorded, though according to Morris, this was probably for the best. "I'm kind of relieved she didn't record them because I just would have gotten even more arrogant if I, on the first bat artist co-write, had gotten two cuts," Morris joked. Before her own breakthrough with her album Hero, Morris co-wrote songs for household-name country singers, including "Last Turn Home" for Tim McGraw and "Second Wind" for Kelly Clarkson. 🎬 🎬

Maren Morris Says She Feels Like a 'Toddler' at Dating After Divorce, Believes Men Know How to 'Cosplay Intimacy So Well'
Maren Morris is getting used to dating again. In an interview with The Cut published on Friday, May 9, the country star opened up about the challenges she's found in dating following her divorce from ex-husband Ryan Hurd. Morris, 35, revealed that she joined the dating app Raya, where she swipes through men and women when she's not working. "I feel like a toddler at dating, all knock-kneed,' she told the publication. Morris also called out the 'new mutant strain of fake liberal men … who pose as progressive dudes on dating apps.' However, she's since learned certain dating red flags from TikTok like 'maladaptive daydreaming, limerence, and avoidant attachment' from Gen Z. Still, Morris said she someone she was seeing introduced her to his friends and he "completely imploded." 'I'm kind of realizing, with men especially, that they know how to cosplay intimacy so well,' said the "Carry Me Through" singer. Elsewhere in the interview, Morris opened up about why her new album Dreamsicle, which dropped Friday, May 9, isn't a divorce album. 'It's actually, to me, what happens after divorce,' she told the outlet. "I'm not documenting what happened during the relationship; I'm documenting the grief, anger, and sadness that follows, and the vulnerability of putting yourself back out there again … of reconnecting with your female friends and yourself.' is now available in the Apple App Store! However, their romance didn't blossom until a few years later. The former couple married in March 2018 and welcomed their 5-year-old son, Hayes, in March 2020. The "Cry in the Car" artist filed for divorce in October 2023, and the exes reached a settlement agreement three months later. In January 2024, they finalized their divorce. "There [are] so many emotions when you have a child with somebody and the relationship doesn't pan out," Morris told PEOPLE in an August 2024 interview.
