Carl Junction mayor suspended by city council
CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — The mayor of Carl Junction has been suspended.
During Tuesday night's council meeting (6/3), council member James Shanks made a motion to suspend Mike Moss from his duties as mayor.
The motion then passed by a vote of 6-to-2.
Immediately after the vote, Moss left. It was then chaired by Mayor Pro Tem, Hollie Lavigne.
Prior to the vote, the council unanimously agreed to hire Lauber Municipal Law, which will provide outside counsel regarding an ethics complaint filed against Moss.
That complaint was filed by Shanks and accuses Moss of an alleged insult against female city employees.
At least four other alleged complaints have also been made against Moss.
After the meeting, Shanks told us, 'I made the motion to protect any potential victims who work or have worked for the city.'
Moss declined to comment tonight, as did two other city officials.
