EXCLUSIVE A Place In The Sun's Laura Hamilton reveals she went on a date with Shaggy - and he made her pay!

Laura Hamilton has revealed that she once went on a date with Shaggy - and he made her pay! The A Place In The Sun presenter, 43, who split from husband Alex Goward, 44, in 2022 after a decade of marriage, shared details about her dating life in a new interview on Friday. Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, Laura confirmed that she was still single and having fun as she recalled a surprise date from over 20 years ago. Recounting meeting up with Shaggy, she explained: 'I met him for coffee and I had to pay for it. It was at Heathrow airport. 'I'd been working with him, and he said, 'I really want to meet up with you and talk about work opportunities.'' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Confirming that he made up a song and sang it to her, she continued: 'God, that was over 20 years ago. I'm not sure he'd recognise me now.' Adding of her dating life now, Laura said: 'I'm busy working and dating and having fun, and I prefer to find people naturally rather than being on dating apps. 'I like to go out and meet people who have common interests. I made a decision going forward that I want to keep that aspect of my life private. 'I think it's really important that if I'm dating people - and I have been dating people - if they're not in the public eye, then they have a right to privacy. 'Just because I'm in the public eye – you never know what their job is, and they might need privacy for security reasons, and so I'm always mindful of that.' Laura shares two children Rocco, 12, and Tahlia, 10, with her ex-husband Alex, they split after 13 years together. In a statement at the time, she wrote: 'This isn't something I ever thought I'd be saying but, after 13 years of being together Alex and I have separated. 'Our children are and always will be our number one priority and we would respect privacy for our family at this time.' She has been a presenter on A Place in the Sun since 2012 and regularly posts pictures from her sun drenched holidays and filming trips on Instagram. Laura also explained that her time on the Channel 4 show has seen her through so many life changes, notably her engagement, the births of her children and her divorce. The former Dancing On Ice star described feeling like she had 'failed' amid their separation, which saw Laura move out of the couple's Surrey family home. She said: 'We are co-parenting, and it works. But even that, you know, I kind of felt like I had failed.'

Best-selling authors David Grann, Brit Bennett to kick off Rochester speaker series

Two authors whose books have resided atop the New York Times best-seller list are slated to be the initial speakers at a new Rochester speaker series. David Grann, whose narrative nonfiction books have often topped the Times list, is scheduled as the inaugural speaker in the Rochester Speakers Series. Grann, the author of "Killers of the Flower Moon" and "The Wager," is scheduled for Oct. 7. Also scheduled is best-selling novelist Brit Bennett, author of "The Vanishing Half" and "The Mothers," who is scheduled for April 21, 2026. The series will be held at Asbury First United Methodist Church on East Avenue in Rochester. For some, the Rochester Speakers Series may revive memories of the Rochester Arts & Lectures series that in the late 1980s and early 90s drew a wealth of authors and journalists of note to Rochester. Among the visiting speakers were Maya Angelou, Kurt Vonnegut, Calvin Trillin and Isabel Allende. "Everyone comments that we miss having something like that," said Nancy Klotz, a local lawyer who, with Laura Hamilton, a marketing and communications consultant, is a co-founder of the Rochester Speakers Series. Over the past year, organizers of the series surveyed local arts, journalism, literary and professional organizations to sample the appetite for such a speakers' event. The demand was there, as well as a recommendation that the series be limited to three to four visitors a year. Utilizing a contribution from the Louis S. & Molly B. Wolk Foundation, the organizers were able to design the series and invite its initial authors. The organizers envision a continuing series that relies upon ticket sales and grants. One ticket pricing platform offers cheaper $35 tickets for individuals under 35 years old to attract younger people to the series. 'Sister cities Syracuse and Buffalo have had successful high-profile speaker series for decades, demonstrating both audience demand and the value of such events," Hamilton said in a news release. "But people here aren't always eager to make the long drive to either city. Rochester Speakers Series brings such events home, and we couldn't be more thrilled to introduce this series to our community.' Grann's "Killers of the Flower Moon" tells of a little-known murderous plot against indigenous Osage men and women by white people who stole oil-rich land from the tribe. The book was transformed into an Oscar-nominated film by director Martin Scorsese and actor Leonardo DiCaprio. "The Wager" is a riveting account of mutiny, shipwreck and survival with an 18th century British warship. Scorsese and Dicaprio have also acquired the film rights to the book. Bennett's books, like Grann's, arrived with critical acclaim. "The Vanishing Half" explores race and identity as two light-skinned Black teens, after the lynching murder of their father in the 1940s, follow very different life treks, with one choosing to pass as white. Bennett's book "The Mothers" was hailed as a rich debut novel with depth-filled characters and a propulsive plot constructed around a familial secret. Tickets for the series are on sale at the website The Rochester Speakers Series is a nonprofit organization. — Gary Craig is a veteran reporter who, during the past Rochester Arts & Lectures series, interviewed visiting speakers Seymour Hersh, Rush Limbaugh, Carl Hiaasen and others. Laura Hamilton flaunts her incredible figure in a skimpy black bikini as she enjoys lavish Dubai getaway

Laura Hamilton showed off her incredible figure in stunning Instagram snaps during an exotic getaway in Dubai on Friday. The TV presenter could be seen striking a pose in the black two-piece, oozing confidence as she showed off her jaw-dropping figure. The A Place In The Sun host, 43, put on a leggy display as she sat on the edge of the villa pool. As she tilted her head towards the sun and flaunted her golden tan, she took a moment to take in the gorgeous surroundings. Later in the day, Laura uploaded a video in the same stylish bikini at Rixos The Palm Dubai Hotel, where she was staying. She chilled out on an inflatable, sporting a pair of white stylish sunglasses. She also uploaded a video of herself braving the plunge into an ice bath. As she prepared to immerse herself into the freezing water, Laura showcased her slender figure again and crossed her arms ready to take a quick dip. In the video, the star took several deep breaths as she built up the courage to slowly lower herself into the plunge pool. For the first of the sizzling snaps at Dubai's Azure Beach Club, Laura was pictured from behind as she perched by the side of the pool with just her feet in the water. The presenter seemed in good spirits as she enjoyed a trip away for work, captioning the post: 'In just under 7 hours I travelled to Dubai for meetings, filming and a bit of time by the pool...' Laura's latest post on Instagram comes after she opened up about the struggles she endured during the renovation of her dream home in Spain, which she bought back in August. The property expert, who has been the host of A Place In The Sun since 2012, has spent the proceeding nine months renovating the six-bedroom home into a four bed abode with a courtyard garden. Laura, however, admitted it has all cost a little more than she expected. In an interview with The Sun, she said: 'You need a lot of patience because you have to follow the rules and regulations. She continued: 'You need to do a lot of research before doing a project overseas. What I will say is like any property you buy, you should get a survey. 'Something else that I would say is to get the right mortgage. There are some amazing mortgages available out there.' Laura said that due to her three per cent mortgage which is fixed for 25 years, she didn't have to 'sink all my money' into the project. The presenter also urged anyone thinking of buying a house abroad to 'do it now' as she regrets not doing it sooner. Laura ended up knocking down most of the house in order to create her dream 'plunge pool' as a centre piece to the holiday house. Taking to Instagram at the end of November, she posted an update for her fans, writing: 'LOOK HOW FAR I'VE COME... 'Back in August I purchased a holiday home in Mallorca. But of course me being me, it had to be a 'renovation project'. It's a massive undertaking and I am loving the process and of course the transformation. 'I decided not to post lots about my renovation on this page as I know not everyone is interested so I decided to create a separate page with more content on the project over on @myrenovationinthesun.' Laura shared how it was tough to gut the house as it is on a small lane in the middle of the town - and it took a team of eight people three days to empty everything. The whole back of the house had been demolished and the roof terrace has gone in order to create a space for a courtyard garden with a plunge pool. She has also gutted the old fashioned bathroom, downstairs bedroom and kitchen to make way for a more modern design. Laura began her rise to fame in 2003, appearing on popular children's programme Fun Song Factory on CITV - alongside JLS' Aston Merrygold. Laura also presented the Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards and was in talks to host The X Factor accompaniment show The Xtra Factor. Since becoming a firm favourite on A Place In The Sun, Laura has appeared on Dancing On Ice, where she came second.
