Melrose Place icon is a grandmother! Star announces surprise arrival of newborn Grayson

Melrose Place alum Laura Leighton announced the arrival of the newest and littlest member of her family, newborn grandson Grayson, on Tuesday. The 56-year-old Golden Globe nominee - 148K Instagram followers - captioned her sweet snap: 'Wearing my Nana hat again, this time for my perfect grandson! Sweet baby Grayson. Sweet smooshiness.' Indeed, Laura (born Laurie Miller) became a grandmother for the first time in 2023 when her stepdaughter Madeleine Savant Dault welcomed her now 22-month-old daughter Josephine. 'I'm a Nana!' Leighton gushed at the time. 'Madly in love with this bundle of perfection named Josephine. Yep. #grandparenting.' The Still the Place podcaster famously met her husband of 27 years, Doug Savant, on the set of Darren Star's hit Fox soap opera while portraying the flame-haired vixen Sydney and the openly gay doctor Matt. The 60-year-old Desperate Housewives alum reportedly left Melrose Place in 1998 after six seasons because the network refused to allow the writers to explore his character's love life. 'We've raised four children together and we're pretty proud of that,' Laura told the Still Here Hollywood podcast last January. 'And still going. It truly was the best thing to come out of the show.' Leighton and Savant are parents of 24-year-old son Jack and 20-year-old daughter Lucy, and he welcomed daughters - Adrianna, 33; and Madeleine, 31 - during his 14-year marriage to Dawn Marie Dunkin, which ended in 1997 (the same year they got engaged). On September 14, the Iowa-born beauty reunited with her former castmates Josie Bissett, Daphne Zuniga, Brooke Langton, Grant Show, and Heather Locklear at 90s Con 2024 in Daytona Beach, FL. Laura and Zuniga gave an update on CBS Studios developing a Melrose Place reboot executive produced by them and starring them as well as Locklear. Leighton explained that there were a lot of 'moving parts and pieces' involved and 'the stars need to align, but we want it as much as the fans want it.' 'Everyone has agreed to do it. Laura and I worked on this for a little bit now,' 62-year-old Daphne - who played Jo Reynolds - added. 'It is in talks. Business affairs and lawyers and all those types are talking about it, and they do want to do it.' Laura said the continuation, set 30 years later, will catch up with what happens to all of the original characters. 'There's all these fan stories, all these great conspiracies and those are just wonderfully creative ideas, an example of everybody's interest in where they would be,' Leighton told the crowd. The Iowa-born beauty and Zuniga gave an update on CBS Studios developing a Melrose Place reboot executive produced by them and starring them as well as Locklear: 'We want it as much as the fans want it' 'We were such an easy group of people. We loved each other then. We can't think of anything better than to come back together and tell a new story soon.' Laura's character, whose the younger sister of Jane (Bissett), appeared in the first five seasons before being hit by a car and 'killed' in 1997 only to be resurrected for The CW's 2009 reboot and murdered yet again. Leighton hasn't acted since guest-starring in an episode of Dynasty and an episode of Fantasy Island in 2021. Laura is also well known for her role as Ashley Marin in I. Marlene King's mystery teen drama Pretty Little Liars, which aired for seven seasons on Freeform spanning 2010–2017.
