Arkansas sees all time low in air quality, according to report

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/FOX24) — The American Lung Association released there 2025 'State of the Air' report, and it had Arkansas reaching a record low in air quality. However, despite the poor ranking nationwide, Northwest Arkansas was found to be one of the cleanest areas for air quality. The area was given an 'A' grade for daily air quality, but received a 'D' grade for ozone levels. Laura Turner with the American Lung Association says ozone quality is down all across the country. 'I would say with ozone across the board throughout the country, we saw worsened ozone levels, it doesn't matter where you live. For short-term spikes in particle pollution, still on the cleanest cities list. Zero unhealthy days per year. So that's wonderful,' Turner said. Even with air quality considered clean by the standards of the rest of the state, it can still cause some underlying health issues. Dr. Blake Hansen at Simplified Health said that it's always important to check for symptoms. 'If somebody has lingering headaches and fatigue and it's not really tracking with anything else that's going on, and maybe there's some airway compromise where you're feeling like a little bit of nasal congestion or a little bit of harder time, like getting a full deep breath, definitely talk to your health care provider, your physician, get in, get checked out,' Hansen said. To find more on the air quality reports and to get a closer look at how the numbers are tracked, you can visit the American Lung Associations website. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
