Now the Married At First Sight bride, who starred in the 2023 instalment, has taken to her Instagram page to add further detail. She posted a link to our article to her Instagram Stories and, in a piece to camera, told her followers: "The reason I'm talking about it is because I have promised to be a little bit more open particularly around some of my life choices. "Whenever I talk about like being in my Thirties and trying to challenge some societal pressures and norms and things like that about being a female, I get a lot of questions about why I don't want children." She added: "I've had a lot of shame around this for a very long time and particularly since I've had my platform. "I have struggled to tell anyone about this because there is a lot of shame around the subject I think." Laura then told how there was an imbalance in the way abortions and miscarriages are referred to, and in the language used for them. She then addressed an eating disorder which followed the medical abortion and told of her desire to change her figure as being due to the fact "I didn't want to carry that experience with me for any longer than I had to." In her final Instagram slide, Laura uploaded a link to the Arch charity and added the words: "My aim going forward is to shed light on the silent weight so many women carry. "We need to bridge the empathy gap between miscarriage and abortion - both are profound losses yet sometimes only one is met with compassion. Laura Vaughn's MAFS diary: Adam and Polly are childish and Luke's hiding something - this series has been unhealthy "I hope to challenge the stigma, support others in similar situations, and work alongside charities and educators to create a society where all reproductive experiences are treated with understanding not judgement." ROUGH REVEAL Recently, we reported how Laura, initially thought it was 'impossible' when a Clearblue digital pregnancy test revealed she was expecting. And she was even more stunned when doctors told her she was in the third trimester. lthough the former finance manager had been suffering from bloating and missed periods, she claims she had been told the symptoms were likely caused by a 'ruptured cyst'. She'd gone to see a GP about her symptoms - including bloating and pain in her stomach - but she'd explained that they looked at her medical records and noticed that the year before she'd had a ruptured cyst and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and said that was "likely the cause again". They referred Laura for a scan which, she says, she kept forgetting to book. Laura was still able to "squeeze into size 6/8 dresses" while not being aware of her pregnancy, and considered her weight gain to be down to bloating the entire time. She said: "It was literally the week I decided to test that my stomach popped, and I remember thinking 'this isn't right'." Recalling the moment the Clearblue test came up with the phrase '2-3 weeks [pregnant]", Laura, now an influencer, said: 'My first thought was 'that's impossible'... but then I realised that is how the tests display it, so I could've been pregnant for months - and I was.' Laura's shock at her cryptic pregnancy soon turned into an unimaginable ordeal when she learned the strong acne drug she had been taking, isotretinoin, can cause birth defects. Due to the risk of birth defects to her foetus, Laura was offered a medical abortion - and, with a heavy heart, she accepted it. 'That whole time of my life was incredibly challenging and I didn't feel emotionally equipped to deal with the weight of the situation,' the former TV bride told The Sun. Recalling the hospital procedure itself, she added: 'I went for the abortion and I was meant to be in and out within a day and a half but I ended up being in for nearly a week. 'They could get me to contract but couldn't get me to full labour, and so I was having contractions and then [they were] stopping. "It was agony. It was just so awful for my state of mind, too, going into labour multiple times and then nothing.' Laura, who had a failed love match with tennis coach Arthur Poremba, 38, on MAFS, described how she broke down to a midwife, saying she was terrified that the reason why her body wasn't responding to the abortion was because she wasn't meant to do it. And in another heart-wrenching confession, she admitted she wanted to take it all back, but couldn't. 'It impacted me so heavily. All of it,' she said of her ordeal. 6 She opted for the heartbreaking medical procedure aged 26 Credit: Instagram/@laurajayvaughan 6 Laura made her tough decision after being told she had unknowingly put her unborn baby at risk Credit: Instagram

Married At First Sight star reveals devastating cryptic pregnancy in heartbreaking admission
Married At First Sight star Laura Vaughan has revealed she suffered a devastating cryptic pregnancy, that she didn't discover until the third trimester. The reality star, 35, who recently announced that she had found love again after her failed union on the show, opened up about the traumatic experience, which happened in 2016. She was forced to undergo a medical abortion after unknowingly putting her foetus at risk of 'extreme harm' and defects with the drug she was taking to treat her acne. Laura told The Sun: 'It was very difficult because I went from not thinking I was pregnant to being seven months pregnant to then having a very prolonged abortion and where I was so far gone. 'Then, when I got home from the procedure, my milk came in, which, as you can imagine, was just really hard to deal with. 'I hunkered down at home for weeks and didn't talk to anyone.' Laura appeared on Married at First Sight in 2023 when she was paired with Arthur Poremba, but their union was not to last after she realised he couldn't give her what she wanted in a marriage. Reflecting on her cryptic pregnancy, Laura said she thought it was 'impossible' when she first discovered that she was pregnant. This shock was only worsened when she was told that she was in the third trimester. While the star had sought treatment for her missing period and stomach cramps, her GP told her it was the result of a 'ruptured cyst' and not a pregnancy. However, she admits she was referred for an additional scan at the time but failed to book it in. Laura said that despite being so far along, she was able to fit into six 6 to 8 dresses, which also left her convinced that her GP's diagnosis was the correct one. She added: 'It was literally the week I decided to test that my stomach popped, and I remember thinking "this isn't right".' The situation went from bad to worse when Laura discovered the effect that her acne drug, Isotretinoin, is responsible for birth defects. Laura speculates that the pregnancy was the result of an expired condom as she remembers using protection. Those taking the acne drug should be advised to use two methods of contraception because of the immense risk to an unborn unborn foetus, according to dermatologists. Laura said that due to the advanced stage of her pregnancy, she was offered a medical abortion and it impacted her 'heavily'. Some of the issues she faced were the pain of the procedure itself, which lasted a week instead of a day and a half, and an alleged lack of support from medical staff, who she claims forgot to feed her on occasion. The star is hoping that by speaking out about her experience, she can dispel some of the shame that exists around planned abortions. Referring to her stint on MAFS, she said she chose not to tell producers about the ordeal but was forced to confront it anyway when discussing future family plans with husband Arthur. Laura, who said she is smitten with her new partner, said they have discussed the possibility of having children and neither of them see it in their future. If you or someone you know has been affected by baby loss, help is available from Tommy's in the UK on 0800 0147 800 or email midwife@ How common are cryptic pregnancies? One in 450 pregnant women in the UK don't know they are going to have a baby until week 20 of their pregnancy (half-way through), and one in 2,500 women are oblivious to the fact until they go into labour. It's a phenomenon known as cryptic pregnancy - also referred to as 'pregnancy denial'. Cryptic pregnancies typically affect either young women, who have never experienced a pregnancy, or women who believe they've gone through the menopause and who choose not to use contraception. Women with erratic menstrual cycles are also more likely to miss signs they are expecting. This is especially true among women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), where small cysts grow on the ovaries; the hormone imbalance often leads to irregular or non-existent periods. Yet there are some women who will continue to have monthly bleeds throughout their pregnancy. In this case, a scan at the local GP may be the only method of confirmation. Women may simply not expect to find they are pregnant if they are taking the Pill - but then those taking it religiously can still become pregnant. Eight in 100 women can get pregnant while on the Pill - usually not because of problems with the Pill, but with the taker, either because they've missed the Pill, thrown up or had diarrhoea.

MAFS star had to make heartbreaking choice after discovering 7 month pregnancy
Laura Vaughan first rose to fame on Married At First Sight UK on the 2023 series but the reality star has since opened up about the her recent heartbreaking ordeal A Married At First Sight star was devastated after discovering she was seven months pregnant as she had to make a heartbreaking choice. Laura Vaughan rose to fame on the show but has dealt with a difficult situation behind the scenes. Laura underwent a medial abortion after she unexpectedly found out she was seven months into a surprise pregnancy. The 35-year-old underwent the procedure after finding she had unknowingly been putting the unborn foetus at risk of severe birth defects by taking medication to treat her acne. The procedure happened in 2016 when she was 26-years-old. Laura has now opened up about what she went through nine years ago. Speaking to The Sun, Laura said: "It was very difficult because I went from not thinking I was pregnant to being seven months pregnant to then having a very prolonged abortion and where I was so far gone. Then, when I got home from the procedure, my milk came in, which, as you can imagine, was just really hard to deal with. I hunkered down at home for weeks and didn't talk to anyone." Laura was shocked when she found that a pregnancy test revealed that she was expecting, but she certainly didn't expect it when she went to the doctors and they said she was in her third trimester. The TV star said she had experiencing bloating and missed periods but at the time thought this was down to a "ruptured cyst". She went to a doctor to discuss her symptoms but looking at medical records, they thought she had a ruptured cyst and polycystic ovary syndrome. Laura was then meant to go for a scan but kept forgetting to book it in. Laura was still able to fit into her clothes and just thought she was bloated when she decided to do a test. She said her stomach popped when she took a test and found out she was pregnant. Soon after finding out she was pregnant, Laura was then told that the acne drug she had been taking, isotretinoin, can cause birth defects. Consultant dermatologist Dr Jonathan Kentley said: "Isotretinoin [also known as Roaccutane] is the most effective treatment we have for severe acne and, for many patients, it is a cure for their distressing condition. "Whilst the medication is usually well tolerated, it must be prescribed under the expert supervision of a consultant dermatologist as there is a potential for side effects. Importantly, isotretinoin is extremely harmful to the unborn foetus, leading to birth defects." Laura went to hospital for the medical abortion and was meant to be in and out in a day and a half but ended up being there for nearly a week. She said she went in for the procedure and they couldn't get her to go into full labour but she was in "agony". "It impacted me so heavily. All of it," she said. Laura is now in a long term relationship with her boyfriend who she met after appearing on MAFS in 2023.
