London man indicted for vehicular homicide, wanton endangerment
Topping the Friday, May 16, return of indictments by the Laurel County Grand Jury was a London man indicted on 10 counts, including vehicular homicide. Timothy A. Wells, 60, of Osborne Cemetery Road, has been indicted on charges which stem from a June 2024 crash that resulted in one death and several injuries. According to the indictment, Wells was under the influence of intoxicants while driving a Ford pickup westbound on KY 192 on June 30, 2024, when he caused a fatal crash that resulted in the death of Phyllis Hale, 56. Gary Hale was a passenger in Ms. Hale's Nissan minivan alongside a five-year-old and an eight-year-old. In addition to vehicular homicide, Wells is charged with three counts of first-degree assault for injuries caused to the passengers. Counts five through nine charge Wells with first-degree wanton endangerment. Each of the counts relate to a GMC Acadia which Wells also reportedly collided with. Five victims are listed in that crash — including Hailee Hubbard, Dylan Baker, and three children. Finally, the last count charges Wells with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants — a first offense. The crash was investigated by the London Police Department. Wells' bond is set at $50,000 cash at this time. He will return to Laurel Circuit Court Wednesday, July 16, at 9 a.m. for a status hearing. An indictment is an accusation only and does not imply guilt or innocence. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
