Rowan County towing service owner charged for falsely reporting ownership of stolen Camaro
ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The owner of a local towing service has been charged after falsely claiming ownership of a stolen Camaro, according to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office. On Jan. 16, the owner of a 1967 Camaro, Tim McManus, reported it stolen to deputies while he was incarcerated in the Rowan County Detention Center. Investigators learned McManus was stopped on Sept. 30, 2022, for operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license which resulted in the towing of his vehicle by LeBleu's Towing and Salvage. Officials say after McManus was released, he went to LeBleu Towing after hours and took his vehicle. He was charged accordingly and the vehicle was brought back to LeBleu towing. CMPD receives first round of long-awaited outer carrier vests After McManus was released the second time, he asked a friend who loaned him money to pay the tow bill to go with him to pick up the Camaro. McManus was later arrested on unrelated charges and while he was in jail, the friend picked up the vehicle from McManus's residence and took it to LeBleu's Towing where he sold it for the amount McManus owed him, officials said. The owner of LeBleu's Towing, Jeremy Good, submitted documents to the Rowan County Clerk's Office and the Cabarrus County Clerk's Office to assert his claim to the title and ownership of the Camaro. Good reported that $7,290 was owed to him in fees associated with the vehicle and claimed his company had possession of the vehicle from Sept. 2022 to April 2023. Deputies said that was not true because on March 9, 2023, a search warrant was used on an unrelated matter at McManus's residence and the Camaro was seen on an officer's body camera at the location during the search. Juvenile dies after Chester County stabbing, Sheriff says As a result, Good was booked into the Rowan County Detention Center on a $30,000 secured bond on Jan. 30 and charged with: 2 counts of felony making a false affidavit/perjury Felony uttering a forged instrument Felony obtaining property by false pretenses Felony altering/forging a title The sheriff's office says LeBleu towing was previously on the rotation to service list to tow vehicles for the Rowan County Sheriff's Office and other local law enforcement agencies. Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
