Doechii Earns Her First Hot 100 Top 10 Smash
Doechii's 'Anxiety' becomes her first top 10 hit on the Hot 100, years after its release, thanks to ... More viral momentum and renewed attention. PARIS, FRANCE - MARCH 04: Doechii attends the "Le Grand Diner du Louvre" Passage Richelieu Photocall at Musee du Louvre on March 04, 2025 in Paris, France. (Photo by Pascal) Doechii has been working toward a real breakthrough moment for years, and this week, she officially becomes a proper star in the eyes of the industry – at least in one regard. Reaching the top 10 on the Hot 100 is a major milestone for any artist. It signals not just a win, but that a huge number of people know an act's work, and name. The rising talent's first trip into that elite territory doesn't come thanks to a brand new smash, but rather an older cut that's recently found new life. This week, Doechii lands her first top 10 hit on the Hot 100 with 'Anxiety.' The track lifts from No. 13 to No. 10, just barely sneaking into the highest tier on the all-genre ranking. Before 'Anxiety' arrived, Doechii had landed six other placements on the Hot 100. While several of those tracks showed promise, none came close to this kind of success. Just one week ago, 'Anxiety' debuted at No. 13, instantly becoming her highest-charting title on the list. That immediate success marked a new personal best, as it passed 'Denial is a River,' which had previously peaked at No. 21. 'Anxiety' isn't a new single. In fact, it's been around for quite some time. Originally released in 2019, the track was first shared as a promotional release. At the time, Doechii was still just starting to build her reputation, and while the tune helped introduce her to a wider audience, it wasn't positioned as a proper single. Everything changed when Sleepy Hallow interpolated the track on a song of his own, which turned into a modest hit. That cut reached the Hot 100 only recently, thanks to Doechii's newfound fame. 'Anxiety' is built on a sample from Gotye and Kimbra's 'Somebody That I Used to Know,' which topped the Hot 100 and won multiple Grammys more than a decade ago. That familiar sound likely helped it connect with listeners quickly, especially those who hadn't heard Doechii's music before. The debut of 'Anxiety' in the top 10 is just the latest win for Doechii, who is clearly in the middle of an exciting upward trajectory. Earlier this year, she won the Grammy for Best Rap Album for Alligator Bites Never Heal, which has only grown in popularity since she took home the golden gramophone. Just a few weeks after making history by claiming that prize, she officially released 'Anxiety' to streaming platforms. The tune had been a longtime fan-favorite, and once it was properly available, it didn't take long to become a full-fledged hit. In addition to its current Hot 100 success, 'Anxiety' is also now a bestseller. This week, it jumps from No. 4 to No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart. According to Billboard, the track sold 11,000 copies in the latest tracking frame, and it is about to become Doechii's her first leader on that tally.
