Two Wrexham players named in League One Team of the Season
The duo helped Phil Parkinson's men secure an historic third successive promotion, with Saturday's 3-0 win against Charlton Athletic at The Racecourse taking the Reds straight up to the Championship with one game remaining. Barnett has made 39 league appearances and as well as scoring two goals, the wing-back has the most assists in the division. The 25-year-old finished the campaign out of the side following the arrival of Ryan Longman but the 25-year-old's contribution has been crucial to Wrexham's success. Although he had a brief spell out of the side after sustaining ankle ligament damage, centre-back Cleworth has been a rock in the Reds' defence. The 22-year-old has made 41 league starts and also weighed in with eight goals in all competitions. The full League One Team of the Season: Sam Tickle (Wigan Athletic); Ryan Barnett (Wrexham); Max Cleworth (Wrexham); Lloyd Jones (Charlton Athletic); Christoph Klarer Birmingham City); Alex Cochrane (Birmingham City); Lewis Bate (Stockport County); Tomoki Iwata (Birmingham City); Davis Keillor-Dunn (Barnsley); Kwame Poku (Peterborough United); Richard Kone (Wycombe Wanderers). Parkinson was on the shortlist for the division's Manger of the Season award but the accolade was won by Birmingham City boss Chris Davie. The former Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and Celtic assistant manager has taken the reins as head coach for the first-time and he led the Blues to the League One title and return to the Championship at the first time of asking, passing the 100-point mark in the process. Wycombe striker Richard Kone has been crowned League One Player of the Season. Kone was a prolific scorer in the Essex Senior League for Athletic Newham last season but he has made the step-up with ease, having 21 goal contributions in 39 league outings for the Chairboys who challenged Wrexham for the second automatic promotion spot but have had to settle for a play-off berth. The 21-year-old also scooped the division's Young Player of the Season award.
