Mother of hit-and-run victim, Wyman Kemble, describes son as 'her rock'
Leanne Kemble remembers the moment officers arrived at her door to deliver the news her oldest child, Wyman Kemble, had died in a hit-and-run accident while riding his motorcycle on a Saturday night in Milwaukee.
"I was absolutely stunned," Leanne Kemble told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "He was my oldest. He was my rock."
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office on June 11 identified Wyman Kemble, 44, as the victim of the hit-and-run accident that occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on June 7. Wyman Kemble was traveling north on North 76th Street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling south and turning left on West Florist Avenue, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.
He was pronounced dead on the scene from injuries sustained during the crash. The driver of the second vehicle is unknown and fled the scene, police say. No one has been charged in Wyman Kemble's death, and the investigation is ongoing.
Leanne Kemble said her son loved the motorcycle he was riding at the time of his death. She described him as one of the most "kind, caring and fun-loving people you'd ever meet."
"He was always helping people with their car repairs, or just doing odd jobs to help out our neighbors," she said. "He was an all-around great person. Everybody loved him."
Leanne Kemble said her son graduated from Riverside High School, where he played on the football team, and was a graduate of Milwaukee Area Technical College. Volleyball was now his sport of choice, and he played year-round, she said.
She said she was able to say a good-bye, of sorts, prior to discussing funeral arrangements.
"I just hugged and kissed him," she said. "It hurt like hell to see him. But he looked at peace."
The family has created a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral and burial expenses.
