DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ISN, the global leader in contractor and supplier information management services, celebrates completing more than 2,500 RAVS 360 assessments this year. RAVS 360 aids contractor customers in identifying gaps in safety culture, worker training, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, and provides actionable items to help improve safety on jobsites. This milestone follows 10 years of identifying opportunities in contractor HSE training and policies through ISN's historical program, RAVS Plus ®. We look forward to seeing how the assessment helps improve the safety culture of our company moving forward,' said Anna Loving, Business Operations Manager at Cypress Engine Accessories. Building on the foundation of more than 20,000 RAVS Plus assessments, RAVS 360 elevates contractor HSE assessments by engaging front-line workers to demonstrate knowledge over HSE programs and provide feedback on company safety culture. RAVS 360 supports a more robust due-diligence process, including improved worker participation and the ability to address employee-level knowledge gaps through ISNetworld's Learning Management System (LMS) of industry-leading trainings. Hiring Clients can also view results of the assessment and track contractor progress on open items within ISNetworld. By expanding worker-level evaluations to include both policy knowledge and company culture perception, RAVS 360 facilitates an important conversation using a human centered approach that encourages collective responsibility among all employees in an organization. Regardless of company size, participation highlights opportunities for organizations to strengthen hazard recognition and employee empowerment while raising the bar in the development and deployment of safety management systems and use of safety technology. 'In addition to the worker evaluation and management interview, RAVS 360 is intended to help reduce the likelihood of a SIF with the addition of an evaluation of employees' safety culture perceptions, AI-driven work type suggestions to support contractor selection of the best-fit work scope and related hazard documentation, and delivery of complimentary, mobile-friendly trainings to help close safety gaps,' said Marie Anderson, Chief Customer Success Officer and Head of RAVS at ISN. Kendriya Vidyalaya schools to take students on a road safety trip

Dressed up as a superhero, the road safety mascot SIAM (read as Safe I am) greets children of junior sections in schools in a video. It goes on to promise them that it would take them on an adventure about road safety. With jingles and animation stories, children listen to conversations between Chiku and Muski on pedestrian safety, the learn importance of wearing a helmet, the need to walk on the footpath and following rules while waiting for the bus. The module gets more advanced for middle schoolers and high school students showing them traffic signs, cycling safety and safe driving practices. The rights of pedestrians and data on road safety are also in focus. During the coming academic year, students of Kendriya Vidyalaya schools will have an online road safety programme in their curriculum that will nudge them towards following road rules. The programme was launched recently by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), in association with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), under the guidance of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the Ministry of Education, Government of India. There are 1,253 Kendriya Vidyalayas, and the programme will offer six interactive, curriculum-integrated digital modules for foundational, middle and senior secondary classes. After teachers play the videos in the classroom, the programme requires students to take an online assessment to test their understanding. 'It is an online quiz where those scoring more than 80% will get a certificate. Those who do not make that cut can repeat the test till they get that score,' says Meenakshi Kukreja, director, SIAM. The web-based Learning Management System (LMS) developed by SIAM has been integrated into KVS academic activities. Depending on the age group, the interactive activities are aimed at helping students sharpen their decision-making skills and identify if a shown action is right or wrong. Meenakshi says the MoU with KVS was signed two years ago and a lot of thought has gone into making the content engaging so as to inspire children to be responsible road users. 'India is among countries that are on the top of the table in terms of road-related fatalities. Education is one pillar of road safety. Through LMS system we will be awarding schools that have completed the six modules together with the assessment tests in the shortest time or got maximum number of students enrolled,' says Meenakshi. Twenty five assistant commissioners have been trained on how to run this programme in their respective States.

Mission ShaktiSat: Chennai to host 300 students building Moon-bound payload

Mission ShaktiSat, a global initiative led by SpaceKidz India to involve 12,000 girl students in building and launching a satellite to the Moon, has now entered Phase 2. The project's educational component is being delivered via Zoho's Learning Management System (LMS), enabling access to a curated space-tech curriculum across 108 initiative, spearheaded by Srimathy Kesan, Founder and CEO of SpaceKidz India, aims to make space education more accessible and had earlier done AzadiSat with 750 Indian schoolgirls. This time, we wanted to go global. Every child believes the world is one big family,' Kesan said, adding that even smaller nations like Grenada, Benin, Burkina Faso, St Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago are on board. Under ShaktiSat, 108 girls from each participating country will undergo structured training that begins with basic physics and mathematics and advances to complex topics like orbital mechanics, system engineering, HAM radio operations, and satellite programming. In total, students will progress through 21 modules, all hosted on Zoho LMS. They can access videos, reading material, and activities, with each student's progress tracked and shared with their respective Kesan credited Zoho and its founder Sridhar Vembu for stepping in with the LMS platform at a crucial juncture. 'We give every participant a unique email ID and login so they can fully engage with the curriculum. It's a colossal process that requires chronological precision,' she the modules are completed, one student and one coordinator from each country — amounting to around 300 people — will be invited to Chennai by year-end, Kesan they'll collaborate on building the scientific payload. This will be launched aboard a PSLV, transferred via a Lunar Transfer Vehicle from low-Earth orbit to the Moon, and landed with a dedicated Lander Module—a symbolic girl mascot carrying mementos from each India has been active in the space-tech sector for over 14 years, with 19 BalloonSats, three suborbital payloads, and five orbital satellites already to its credit. Re-evaluating screen time in current education

As schools reopen for the new academic year, it is the right moment to critically reassess the role of screen time in modern education. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Learning Management System (LMS) Moodle served as a lifeline, allowing students to access lessons, participate in virtual classes, and submit assignments amid school closures. Its role was indispensable in ensuring academic continuity during a global crisis. However, with physical classrooms now fully operational, we must ask: Does Moodle still hold the same value, or has its continued overuse begun to erode the essence of quality education? Moodle's utility during the pandemic is undeniable. Yet, its heavy reliance in face-to-face settings is raising concerns. In many cases, teachers continue to use it simply to upload notes, PowerPoint slides, and pre-recorded lectures, often at the expense of active teaching. This shift has transformed some classrooms into passive learning environments, where meaningful interaction, timely feedback, and real-time discussion are lost. Before the digital surge, classrooms were hubs of vibrant activity - fostering collaboration, critical thinking, and hands-on experiences. Now, with increased dependence on independent study via screens, many students engage in surface-level learning, skimming digital content rather than deeply engaging with it. This lack of interaction has not only led to poor retention but also diminished students' enthusiasm and academic performance. Another alarming trend is the decline in teacher involvement. Some educators now limit their role to uploading materials, sometimes just before exams, with minimal classroom engagement or support. This undermines the mentor-mentee dynamic that is crucial for both academic growth and personal development. From a parent's perspective, the issue goes beyond academics. Prolonged screen time has been linked to physical problems like eye strain, sleep disruption, and reduced physical activity. Moreover, Moodle's online nature makes it easier for students to engage in dishonest practices during assessments, which threatens academic integrity and discourages independent thinking. Parents also face the challenge of monitoring their children's Moodle usage. What appears to be academic engagement may in fact be a cover for browsing social media or playing online games. Platforms like Instagram have become a frequent distraction, leading to time mismanagement and poor academic habits - issues that can have long-term consequences. While Moodle can still be a powerful supplemental tool, it should not replace traditional classroom dynamics. True education thrives in environments that blend structured teaching, engaging discussions, and personalised support - qualities that digital tools alone cannot replicate. To restore this balance, schools must promote active teaching, limit unnecessary screen time, and encourage greater parental involvement. In summary, while Moodle played a critical role during the pandemic, its excessive use in post-pandemic classrooms risks diminishing the essence of face-to-face learning. The way forward lies in using technology to complement - replace - educational experiences. The writer is a lecturer of English
