Giants' Lee Jung-hoo records first 2-hit game in a week
Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants delivered a two-hit performance Friday (U.S. time), batting second in the lineup for the first time. It marked his first multi-hit game in a week, boosting his batting average from .276 to .282. His previous multi-hit game came last Friday, when he went 2-for-5 against the Athletics. The 26-year-old, in his second MLB season, started in the No. 2 spot in the batting order for the first time. He played center field in the Giants' 4-0 road victory over the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. Lee went 2-for-3 with a walk, scoring two runs to help secure the win. San Francisco's victory improved its record to 30-21, holding onto second place in the National League West. The Los Angeles Dodgers lead the division with a 31-19 record. San Francisco's Lee Jung-hoo delivers another multihit game
Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants continued his torrid start to the season on Friday, notching his eighth multihit game. Lee went 2-for-3 with a walk in the away game against the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, extending his hitting streak to four games. Impressively, he has recorded at least two hits in each of the three games he has started during that span. The South Korean star has been a revelation at the plate early in his major league career. With 26 hits in 72 at-bats, Lee is now batting .361, the second-best average in the National League. He also ranks among the league leaders in multiple categories, placing fourth in hits, second in slugging percentage (.653), seventh in on-base percentage (.420), and second in OPS (1.073). Despite Lee's strong showing, the Giants managed just four hits and were shut out 2-0 by the Angels, continuing their early season struggles. (Yonhap)

San Francisco's Lee Jung-hoo returns to hitting ways
Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants has resumed adding to his hit total a day after being held hitless. Lee batted 2-for-4 with his Major League Baseball-leading ninth double of the season, though the Giants lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 6-4 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Tuesday. This was Lee's sixth multihit game of 2025. Lee went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts the previous day against the Phillies -- only the second time he failed to reach base and third time he didn't get a hit in a game this season. Batting from his usual spot, No. 3 hole, Lee grounded out to first in the first inning against starter Jesus Luzardo, who then struck out the South Korean star on a sweeper in the fourth inning. In the top sixth, Lee got the better of Luzardo with a double to right field. He later scored on a groundout by Wilmer Flores, giving the Giants a 3-2 lead. The Phillies rallied with two runs in the bottom sixth and two more in the bottom seventh. The Giants could only manage one more run in response, courtesy of Lee's RBI single off reliever Jose Alvarado in the top of the eighth. Lee is batting .333/.400/.651 in 16 games this season. In the National League, Lee is tied for second with 13 extra-base hits, is tied for third with 17 runs scored, and is fourth in on-base plus slugging with 1.051. (Yonhap)

San Francisco's Lee Jung-hoo extends hitting streak to 7 games, takes MLB lead in doubles
Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants has stretched his hitting streak to seven games with his second straight multihit effort. Batting third, Lee went 2-for-4 with a run scored as the Giants walked off the Seattle Mariners 5-4 at Oracle Park in San Francisco on Sunday. One of the hits was Lee's major league-leading sixth double of the season. Lee batted 0-for-2 with two walks on Opening Day on March 27 and has hit safely in every game since then. For the season, Lee is batting .344/.400/.531 and is leading the Giants with 10 runs scored and three steals. Lee's sixth double extended his new career high. He managed four doubles in 37 games last year before having his season come to an abrupt end in May with a shoulder injury. Lee wasted no time keeping his hit streak going, as he doubled off Seattle starter Bryan Woo in the bottom of the first. Lee then hit a single in the bottom fourth for his second consecutive games with at least two hits, and third such game overall this year. Lee scored on a three-run homer by Mike Yastrzemski. Lee flied out in the fifth and struck out in the eighth. The Mariners scored a run in the top ninth to pull into a 4-4 tie, before pinch hitter Wilmer Flores singled home the winning run with two outs in the bottom ninth. By winning their seventh straight game, the Giants climbed to the top of the National League West standings at 8-1. (Yonhap)

MRI shows no structural damage for Giants outfielder Lee Jung-hoo
San Francisco Giants center Lee Jung-hoo is not expected to be out long term after imaging on his back came back negative. The San Francisco Chronicle reported Tuesday that an MRI on Lee's tight back did not reveal any structural damage. Although there is no timetable yet on his return, the South Korean player will not likely miss an extended period of time. Lee underwent testing Monday after missing weekend action in spring training due to back discomfort. He had been set to start Saturday's game but was a late scratch. His back tightness lingered longer than the Giants had expected, which prompted them to send Lee for imaging and a follow-up exam. The Giants are scheduled to open their season March 27 against the Cincinnati Reds on the road. But they will play two final spring training games at home, Oracle Park in San Francisco, next Monday and Tuesday. Giants manager Bob Melvin has said Lee would be "fine" as long as he could play some remaining spring training games either in Arizona or in San Francisco. Lee played in only 37 games in 2024 before suffering a season-ending left shoulder injury in a collision with an outfield wall at Oracle. This spring, Lee has a .300 batting average with two home runs, five RBIs and an on-base slugging of .967 in 12 games. (Yonhap)
