KUCHING (April 25): Over 1,000 police personnel, retirees, and their families gathered at St Peter's Church today for a mass to commemorate the 218th Police Day celebration.
The annual service to foster unity, appreciation, and reflection among Christian police personnel, especially during the Easter season, was led by Rev Christopher Laden Jaban.
In his address, Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata highlighted the importance of integrity, a strong sense of purpose, and dedication to community service in the daily responsibilities of police officers.
'A career as a police officer is a noble one in the eyes of religion, as it involves sacrifices made for the well-being of society and the nation.
'Therefore, I urge all fellow believers to continue giving thanks to God for the health, protection, and blessings in our work as guardians of the nation's peace,' said Mancha.

He also said police personnel should remain steadfast in their faith and values, allowing their spiritual beliefs to guide them in carrying out their duties with honesty, compassion, and a strong moral compass.
'Our presence this morning is a symbol of unity as members of PDRM, who not only carry out the responsibility of maintaining world peace, but also as believers who surrender ourselves to the guidance of God,' he added. 218th Police Day lead Mancha Ata St Peter's Church Padungan
