Boost for Bahrainisation
Bahrain has achieved its two key annual targets for the employment and training of Bahrainis by the end of the first quarter of 2025. This was outlined in a memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Community Services on labour market indicators for the first quarter of 2025, highlighting the progress toward annual employment and training goals. The memorandum was among several reviewed and approved during the weekly Cabinet meeting held yesterday at Gudaibiya Palace, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister, His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa. By the end of March, 24% of the annual target to employ 25,000 Bahrainis had been met, alongside 25% of the annual target to integrate 8,000 Bahrainis into the labour market. In terms of training, 28% of the goal to train 15,000 Bahrainis annually had also been achieved. These results reflect the agreements reached with the Legislative Authority during discussions on Bahrain's general budget for the 2025–2026 fiscal years, and align with the ongoing implementation of the National Labour Market Plan (2023–2026). Bahrain-Kyrgyz ties The Cabinet affirmed the importance of the discussions held between His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in strengthening bilateral cooperation and enhancing investment opportunities between the two countries. It also highlighted the significance of the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed during the visit, following a report submitted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the outcomes of the discussions and agreements. The Cabinet commended the success of the Social Housing Innovation Summit and Exhibition, held in line with the directives of HM King Hamad to accelerate the allocation of 50,000 housing units and enhance public services for Bahraini families. The event was inaugurated, on behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, by H.E. Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla. The Cabinet highlighted the strong interest shown by citizens in the new housing financing options and the active engagement of the private sector. It expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and Eskan Bank for organising the initiative, aligning with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to broaden awareness of available financing programmes.

SIO completes preparations to disburse revised cost-of-living allowance for retirees
In line with the general state budget agreements reached between the Legislative Authority and the Government, the Social Insurance Organisation (SIO) announced the completion of all technical and administrative preparations required to disburse the cost-of-living allowance for retirees. The disbursement, carried out in coordination with the relevant authorities, includes retroactive payments covering the difference between the previous and revised allowances for the period from January to April, and will coincide with the April pension disbursement. Sahar Rashid Al Mannai, Chief Executive Officer of the SIO, said that the approved allowance amounts are as follows: – BHD 230 per month for pensions not exceeding BHD 700. – BHD 205 per month for pensions between BHD 700 and BHD 1,500. – BHD 115 per month for pensions exceeding BHD 1,500. Al Mannai added that the SIO notified all eligible recipients of the retroactive amounts via text messages, sent separately from the usual monthly pension notifications. She underscored that the Organisation continues to work towards ensuring the financial sustainability of pension funds and delivering services to retirees with the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
