Every Story Counts: How Leonardo Hotels is Embracing Diversity

Leonardo Hotels will be marking Diversity Day on 27 May by demonstrating how diversity is an integral part of everyday working life. This will involve the portrayal of genuine stories and honest points of view and the showcasing of an environment which fosters uniqueness. Berlin - On the face of things, diversity sounds like a big word. But Leonardo Hotels defines it in entirely simple terms as people with stories to tell, teams with character and jobs offering scope for personality. At Leonardo Hotels, diversity is brought to life by the employees themselves and by their individual pathways, experiences and perspectives. Some have striven to achieve a flexible work-life balance. Others are taking on an active role in shaping their work divisions despite disability or perhaps even using their impairment to exert an influence. Then there are those who are passing on knowledge after many years at the company. However, the main focus is always on people, on what makes people what they are and on what is important to them. We look at personality, potential and individual life realities. Whether it's about diversity, development or work-life balance: it's not about fitting in, but about growing. We don't want a one-size-fits-all profile - we want people who get the support they need from us to be successful with Leonardo Hotels. Anke Maas, Director Human Resources at Leonardo Hotels Central Europe Diversity has many facets Leonardo Hotels sets store by a work environment in which authentic collaboration, flexibility and true participation are all standard attributes rather than extras. Having a perfect curriculum vitae is not the goal. The emphasis is instead very much on equality of opportunity, on possibilities for development and on the courage to embark on new routes. This approach includes cooperation arrangements with bodies and providers such as the Berlin Workshops for the Disabled (BWB). Leonardo also works with a Munich-based project which seeks to integrate disabled persons into the world of work (MiA) and with Elbe Workshops in Hamburg, which has a similar aim. Flexible working time models are in place too. Permitting part-time employment, allowing staff to work near to where they live and offering tailored solutions for parental leave all enable greater compatibility between individual life situations and the daily routine. Instead of just talking about diversity, the company has given people the chance to relate their own stories. Steffee Rony Pais, a Front Office Agent at the Leonardo Hamburg Altona, joined Leonardo Hotels in 2023. She has grown both personally and professionally since this time. As an Indian woman in Germany, it means a lot to me to be part of a team which goes beyond accepting cultural diversity and actually celebrates it. I am free to add my own convictions and ideas to the mix and to join in conversations which transcend everyday working life in an environment in which I can really be myself. a Front Office Agent at the Leonardo Hamburg Altona, joined Leonardo Hotels in 2023. A day of routine rather than a campaign day At Leonardo Hotels, diversity is not linked with any special day. It represents a fundamental attitude which leaves a lasting impact. International recruitment measures are backed by structured integration programmes. Regular training on diversity topics and mental health and involvement in pride parades, the Purple Light Up Campaign and inter-faith holidays all form part of the company's HR Strategy. Staff initiatives such as LeoDo (social commitment) and the Leonardo Senior Club (for former colleagues) show that diversity extends beyond the contract of employment. As a signatory to the Charter for Diversity, Leonardo Hotels Central Europe has pledged itself visibly to an open, equal and modern world of work. Our aim is to help create a hotel sector that is just as colourful as the people who leave their mark on it. Every story counts, and we are proud of every single one of them. NYX Hotel Berlin Köpenick – the New 'Place to Be' on the River Dahme

There is a new on-trend destination for urban explorers, for business nomads and for all those seeking something out of the ordinary. The NYX Hotel Berlin Köpenick by Leonardo Hotels, which enjoys a waterfront location at the heart of Berlin's fashionable Köpenick district directly opposite Köpenick Palace, is scheduled to open in May 2025. It will combine comfort and creative energy with a relaxed lifestyle. Although the NYX Hotel Berlin Köpenick brings the presence of Leonardo Hotels in the German capital to seven, it will be the first in the city to operate under the lifestyle brand NYX Hotels. The new addition means that the Leonardo Group now boasts 17 NYX Hotels across Europe. This figure includes four hotels in Germany and others in Poland, Greece, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, the UK, Ireland and Czechia. A further brand highlight is set to follow in the summer in the shape of the NYX Hotel Rome, which will be housed in a building of outstanding architectural and conceptual design in the very centre of the Italian capital. NYX Hotels by Leonardo Hotels stand for individuality, creativity and metropolitan joie de vivre. They represent the lifestyle brand of Leonardo Hotels and blend art, culture and night life to produce a truly unique experience. Local creative talents turn each hotel into a complete work of art by contributing individual pieces. The hotels become pulsating gathering points for revellers and free spirits thanks to innovative concepts and events staged under the motto of "We own the night". At the same time, their modern, lively and high-energy vibe provides the perfect stage for business and meetings. Jan Heringa, Vice President Development Leonardo Hotels Central Europe, added: "The NYX Hotel Berlin Köpenick constitutes a robust continuation of our lifestyle concept. Design, art and attitude meld into a hotel experience which extends far beyond the accepted norm. NYX Hotels embody a new generation of lifestyle hotels. They are individual and expressive and have deep roots in local culture. Each hotel is a one-off with its own impressive design, art and creative energy. This firm differentiation generates emotional loyalty to the brand and also opens up an extraordinary degree of potential in selected city locations all over the world." Stylish design and smart furnishings and fittings The NXY Hotel Berlin Köpenick offers a total of 190 rooms, one of which is fully disabled-accessible. The rooms reflect the creative spirit of the NYX brand. Their design draws its inspiration from street art, music, fashion and the local scene. Internal fixtures and fittings are by the interior designer Andreas Neudahm, who has already appended his innovative signature to many Leonardo Hotels. High-end materials, harmonious colour schemes and customised furniture also give rise to an environment which is appealing both functionally and emotionally. The interplay between design and art was a core element of the design concept from the outset. Andreas Neudahm joined forces with the curator and artist Mirko Reisser, also known as DAIM, to generate an overall visual experience which unifies design and artistic style in a harmonious manner. The artists involved include Plusminus3, Stohead, Julia Benz, Kera and BASE23. The works they have produced include large-format murals, typographical façade design and even sculptural elements. These serve to mould the optical appearance of the inside and outside of the hotel and establish a powerful connection between street art ideas and architecture. The link with the city is a particular focus. The aim is for guests to feel at home whilst still being able to immerse themselves in the local culture. Digital City Guides also help in this regard by providing curated insider tips which make it even easier to explore Berlin. Open lobby, bar and restaurant - with views of the water The spacious open lobby, which features a bar, a chill-out area and a restaurant, is a core element of the hotel. The atmosphere is free, inviting and stylish with direct panoramas of the River Dahme and the Baroque-style Köpenick Palace. One highlight of the hotel is a large outdoor terrace right at the water's edge, which also provides an ideal venue for barbecues, summer parties, receptions or yoga sessions with a view. The culinary offerings in the Clash Restaurant follow a creative and international approach. This is casual dining with a Berlin twist, realised by a young and ambitious team of chefs. The menu is inspired by street food and by a sense of international flair. Ingredients of the very highest quality and intensive taste sensations play the major role. One unique feature of the Clash Köpenick is the restaurant's plan to cooperate with a series of creative visiting chefs. The first guest will be Graciela Cucchiara, a restaurateur, special events chef and influencer who is well known for her appearances on the cookery show "Kitchen Impossible". Visionary meetings & events The NYX Hotel Berlin Köpenick offers 14 flexible events room extending over a total area of 912 square metres. These provide optimum conditions for conferences, seminars or private celebrations. All rooms have natural daylight and modern conference technology equipment, and some open directly onto the outdoor terrace. The largest room is able to accommodate up to 300 persons. An experienced events team is on hand to support the planning and implementation of everything from business meetings to summer barbecue receptions. Fitness, sauna and leisure facilities The hotel's own gym and sauna cater to all the needs of those seeking relaxation and exercise. Lovers of the outdoors will find plenty of leisure options within the immediate surroundings. These include stand-up paddling on the Dahme, cycling tours and excursions to the nearby Lake Müggelsee or Müggelberge Hills. Bicycles and kayaks can be rented from the hotel directly. An ideal location and perfect connections Despite its quiet setting, the NYX Hotel Berlin Köpenick by Leonardo Hotels offers excellent links to Berlin city centre. The "Köllnischer Platz" tram and bus stop is only 120 metres away, and the suburban railway stations of Spindlersfeld (700 m) and Köpenick (2.1 km) are both easily accessible. The distance to Berlin Brandenburg Airport is a mere 15 kilometres - ideal for international guests. Both the Berlin Trade Fair Centre and the city's main railway station can be reached in around 30 minutes. The NYX experience - art, community and city vibes As part of the NYX lifestyle brand, the hotel is bringing a creative idea to Köpenick. Its brand-specific interior architecture is supplemented by a curated artistic concept. Specially designed furniture and decorative elements create an individual atmosphere. Events such as DJ nights, pop-up culture formats and local art installations ensure that the hotel pulsates with life. A "City Lovers" team is available to ensure that guests are provided with true Berlin insider tips which are personal, local and always up to date. A new chapter for NYX Hotels in Rome And the expansion of the brand is about to continue. The NYX Hotel Rome, which is situated between the city's historic centre and the Vatican, will be opening for business as early as 2025. This new hotel will offer 320 rooms, a restaurant, a bar, an interior courtyard complete with terrace, a rooftop pool and its own multi-storey car park.
