Pitt County farmer's market to expand hours for the summer
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — If you needed another excuse to shop local, we have one for you.
The Leroy James Farmer's Market is expanding their hours for the summer season this year. Every week until Labor Day the market will host a Mid-Week Mini Market on Tuesdays, starting at 3pm until 7pm. This is in addition to their regular hours, Saturdays from 8am to 12pm.
'This additional Tuesday Market is responsive to feedback from the community and vendors,' said Janis Gallagher, Pitt County Manager. 'Having a Tuesday evening option gives our residents even more opportunities to purchase fresh, locally grown food and to enjoy unique, handmade crafts from local artisans.'
'Our goal this summer is to bring customers fresh and local food items while also helping them to build community,' said Noel Smith, Leroy James Farmer's Market Manager. 'These expanded hours and special events make it easier for families and individuals to support local farmers and artisans, no matter their schedule.'
On Tuesday, June 10, the Rock Food Truck and Kona Ice will be at the Mini Market. On Saturday, June 21, there will be a Summer Solstice Market that will showcase over 32 vendors. There will be Pilates on the Lawn with Downtown Barre, face painting and Kona Ice.
