Lethbridge residents charged after drugs seized in traffic stop
Two Lethbridge residents are facing charges after RCMP officers seized drugs, weapons and cash from a vehicle during a traffic stop near Aldersyde, Alta., last week.
Okotoks RCMP officers were patrolling near the hamlet on Saturday when they noticed a vehicle with a licence plate that didn't match the vehicle it was attached to.
Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the occupants.
A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of:
88 tablets of suspected fentanyl;
35 grams of suspected cocaine;
40 dots of suspected lysergic acid diethylamide;
6 grams of suspected psilocybin;
177 grams of suspected cannabis resin;
257 tablets of prescription medications;
An extendable baton and two knives; and
$7,300 in cash.
Two people, a 45-year-old and a 49-year-old, are facing multiple charges.
Both are scheduled to appear in court on June 17.
