She wants to make sure he doesn't come back to Clayton County Jail, where he was mistakenly released March 27. Sheriff Levon Allen said his workers released him from the jail due to a paperwork error. 'First of all, I haven't received sufficient enough answers on the mistaken release, even though Sheriff Levon Allen did reach out and call me,' she said. Clayton Co. Jail experiences complete power outage after severe storms
The Clayton County Jail is experiencing a complete power outage after severe storms swept across North Georgia. Though the jail is equipped with emergency power generators, Sheriff Levon Allen said it was unclear what systems, if any, are operating. The outage began at approximately 4 a.m. Allen said the only light available inside the jail are the illuminated exit signs. Kitchen operations are down, preventing meal preparation. The coolers and refrigerators are off, which is concerning to jail staff regarding how long food can be preserved. All computers, phone lines, and internet service is down, limiting communication inside and outside the jail. Officers and medical staff are on high alert. Staff are arranging for alternative meal plans and medical accommodations. Allen said the jail building is the responsibility of the owners, the Clayton County Board of Commissioners.
