Texas politician Bobbie Mitchell stabbed, husband killed after being attacked by their grandson at home
A well-known Texas politician was stabbed and her husband murdered at their home early Monday — with their grandson charged with the bloodbath.
Longtime Denton County Commissioner Bobbie J. Mitchell and her husband, Fred Mitchell, were found just before 4 a.m. inside their home in Lewisville, according to the Denton County Sheriff's Office.
The Republican politician was listed as being in a stable condition while her husband was pronounced dead about an hour after the attack.

Their 23-year-old grandson, Mitchell Blake Reinacher, was found at the scene and has been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Reinacher — one of the Mitchells' nine grandchildren, according to her government website — is being held at the Lewisville jail.

Deputies were still on the scene processing evidence later Monday morning as they continued to probe the circumstances that led to the attack, the sheriff's office said.

Bobbie J. Mitchell previously served on the Lewisville City Council before becoming the city's first black mayor in 1993.
She resigned in 2000 to run for county commissioner and has held that position ever since.

Lewisville is a city of about 120,000 people about 25 miles northwest of Dallas.
