St. Paul mainstay Irish on Grand to close after 35 years
Irish on Grand, the Twin Cities' top destination for Irish gifts and foods, will close in late March after 35 years in business on St. Paul's Grand Avenue.
Cork, Ireland natives Maeve O'Mara and Liam O'Neill, who have owned the business since 2003, announced their retirement Wednesday.
The shop's final day will be Saturday, March 30.
"A big thank you to everyone who helped us run Irish on Grand and to our customers for the support and friendship you've offered over the years," they wrote.
While it's the end of an era, Irish on Grand will live on at the Minnesota State Fair and O'Mara and O'Neill said they'll continue to offer some goods on the store's website.
Maeve O'Mara's brother, Dermot O'Mara, founded Irish on Grand in 1990 next to the avenue's legendary former pub, McCafferty's.
