Celebration Honoring LSU Shreveport Pilots' Historic Season
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A perfect season with perfect support as the LSUS Pilots baseball team is celebrated for a 59- 0 win streak.
The city of Shreveport honored the LSUS Pilot baseball team Monday with a celebration at the festival plaza. The undefeated Pilots walked with cheers, surrounded by a sea of purple and gold.
'Man, it's nothing but greatness for us as a community. Not just in Shreveport but as the LSUS family,' said Trey Johnson, LSUS student assistant.

The public rally included cheerleaders, city leaders, players, and proud families, all reflecting on what this season has meant.
'A perfect season. 59-0 Record that continues in a national championship. These things just don't happen,' said LSUS Chancellor Robert T. Smith.
For some families, this run marks more than just wins on the field. It's a milestone.
'From Little League all the way till now, the amount of time, the practice, the hours spent on the road—wouldn't change a thing. It was amazing,' said Jeff Parks, father of player Jack Parks #33.
The Pilots have created a legacy already etched in LSU history.

'Bring that championship back to Shreveport. It's been nothing but greatness this year,' said Johnson.
'We were just blown away by how many people came out. It really tells you how much support there is in this region. I want to see the city of Shreveport in northwest Louisiana become a place where everybody expects to find champions,' said Smith.
See it goes out this way, this is the last, this is the last game, he's getting married in August, starting a new chapter of life, and so, this has just been a storybook finish.
