Meghan Markle's secret message baked into Princess Lilibet's Little Mermaid birthday cake

Princess Lilibet's Little Mermaid-themed cake might have had a deeper meaning considering her mother, Meghan Markle's connection with the iconic Disney movie. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, marked Lilibet's fourth birthday online with a series of Instagram posts last week, including documenting the Sussexes's family holiday to Disneyland for the occasion. On Friday, Meghan shared a video montage from their two-day visit to the Happiest Place on Earth, as the family-of-four enjoyed the different rides on offer and tucked into corndogs. The Reel also included a glimpse of Lilibet's Little Mermaid cake covered in pastel blue frosting and decorated with an Ariel cake topper, as the famous Disney character with red hair was perched on the top tier of the birthday treat. The choice of confectionery took on a special significance in light of Meghan's bombshell 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, when she sensationally claimed there were 'concerns' within the Royal Family about her and Prince Harry 's son, Archie's skin colour. During the bombshell interview, one year after 'Megxit', Meghan also compared herself to the protagonist of The Little Mermaid who 'falls in love with the prince and bacause of that she loses her voice'. Meghan, who was pregnant with Lilibet at the time, told the broadcaster she saw parallels between Princess Ariel's character and her own life since meeting her real-life prince, Harry. 'I was sitting in Nottingham cottage and The Little Mermaid came on,' she began. The choice of confectionery took on a special significance in light of Meghan's bombshell 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, when she compared herself to Princess Ariel who 'falls in love with the prince and because of that she loses her voice' 'And who as an adult really watches The Little Mermaid but it came on and I was like, "Well I'm here all the time I might as well watch this." 'And I went, "Oh my God she falls in love with the prince and because of that she loses her voice,"' Meghan continued, reflecting on her time as a senior member of the Royal Family. 'But in the end she gets her voice back.' Harry and Meghan, who wed in 2018, quit The Firm and relocated stateside to Montecito, California, in 2020, in a splintering of the Royal Family that has been dubbed 'Megxit'. The Sussexes spoke about their decision in a two-hour CBS special that was broadcast on the one-year anniversary of their move to the United States, as Harry and Meghan made a number of controversial claims about the institution. At one point, the Duchess considered how her life had played out exactly like Princess Ariel, the famous Disney mermaid who falls in love with a human prince and trades her voice in order to be with him on land. The rebellious sea princess strikes a deal with the sea witch Ursula that gives her three days as a human to win over Eric's love and seal their union with a 'true love's kiss' - or return to her mermaid form and become Ursula's captive. In the end, the sea witch is defeated, Ariel gets her voice back and is changed into a human permanently so she can live happily ever after with her prince. Reacting to Meghan's admission about feeling ' silenced' about her alleged treatment after she married Harry - and the couple's eventual decision to quit the Royal Family - Oprah said: 'And this is what happened here. Speaking to Oprah, the Duchess considered how her life had played out exactly like Princess Ariel, the famous Disney mermaid who falls in love with a human prince and trades her voice in order to be with him on land. 'You feel like you got your voice back.' Meghan replied: 'Yeah.' She later told Oprah that her and Prince Harry's love story has been 'greater than any fairytale you've ever read'. Harry and Meghan celebrated their daughter Lilibet's fourth birthday on June 4, as the Duchess shared the clearest glimpse of the toddler since 2022 in photos shared on her main Instagram page. In the snaps, Lilibet's eyes and the top half of her face were visible, with her nose and mouth covered by Meghan's arms as she hugs the princess - who is seventh in line to the throne. A second image also posted by Meghan showed her tenderly cradling newborn Lili shortly after her birth in 2021. Her caption read: 'Four years ago today she came into our lives - and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!' Meghan and Prince Harry have not shared an official portrait of Lilibet's face since her first birthday in June 2022 during a picnic at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. The couple - who tied the knot in 2018 - were spotted having a blast of their own as they sat at the front while on Space Mountain together In the caption, Meghan penned to her 3.6 million followers: 'Thank you @disneyland for giving our family two days of pure joy!' The photo was reminiscent of a now famous photo of Diana, Harry and William riding a log flume at Thorpe Park in 1993 Lilibet, who is named her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, was born in Santa Barbara after the couple quit royal life and moved to California. Harry and Meghan also share six-year-old Prince Archie, who was born at the Portland Hospital in London in May 2019 while the pair were working royals. In a separate post, Meghan uploaded a snap of her husband Harry gently holding Lillibet when she was a newborn. Another picture showed the pair walking down a dirt path barefeet, while holding hands, at a scenic tropical location. 'The sweetest bond to watch unfold. Daddy's little girl and favorite adventurer. Happy birthday Lili!' Meghan captioned her post. She rounded out Lilibet's birthday posts with a medley of photos and videos from Disneyland set to Peggy Lee's song 'It's A Good Day' - including an adorable clip of Lilibet meeting Disney princess Elsa from Frozen. Meghan's caption read: 'Thank you @disneyland for giving our family two days of pure joy!' Harry and Meghan also seemingly paid tribute to Princess Diana during their family holiday. In one photo shared from the visit, they appeared to be enjoying a ride on the updated Splash Mountain ride, now known as Tiana's Bayou Adventure, with Harry sat at the back, Meghan at the front, and Archie, seven, and Lili sandwiched between them. The adorable family moment echoed a snap of Princess Diana with Harry and his older brother Prince William from a visit to Thorpe Park in April 1993, as they were pictured laughing together after getting splashed by the water ride. The picture has become one of the most famous of the late princess and her two sons. Diana had also visited Disneyland with an eight-year-old Harry earlier that year - and were again pictured giggling as they rode Splash Mountain. They were given a ride on Splash Mountain and were escorted through Disney's secret tunnels for VIPs - with the visit coming just months after her separation from Charles.

EXCLUSIVE As long as it twerks in America! Why Meghan Markle doesn't care if British 'haters' winced at video of her twerking in the delivery room before daughter Lilibet's birth

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, came in for criticism in Britain last week when she released a 'cringeworthy' video of her twerking in the delivery room before daughter Lilibet's birth. But she seems to have put the embarrassment behind her as she and husband Prince Harry, 40, enjoyed a family trip to Disneyland, California. And The Mail on Sunday can reveal that, despite the backlash over her dodgy dancing with Harry to the soundtrack of Starrkeisha's Baby Mama song, defiant Meghan is thrilled by the reaction in America. Last night a source close to the Sussexes said: 'Meghan is very pleased with the video. In the UK everyone's reaction has been a bit prudish but everywhere else, particularly in America and especially with young people, it has been a huge hit.' Meghan is about to launch a series of new products as part of her As Ever line – including rosé wine. The source added: 'She and her team count it [the video] as a 'win', which can only be a boost for sales. Her new products are marketed at Americans and not at the UK market.' Her latest video release, on Friday, was a little less controversial. She posted footage of the two-day trip to Disneyland to celebrate Lilibet's fourth birthday. Lilibet met Elsa from Frozen while brother Archie, six, was thrilled to see a group of stormtroopers from Star Wars. The family also enjoyed rides including Space Mountain, Dumbo and Cars Land. There was also a Little Mermaid birthday cake for Lilibet. Afterwards, Meghan, 43, wrote on social media: 'Thank you @disneyland for giving our family two days of pure joy!' Meghan launches her rosé wine in three weeks, joining stars including Brad Pitt, Drew Barrymore, Kylie Minogue and Sarah Jessica Parker, who all have lucrative alcohol lines. A source said: 'Meghan doesn't care about the haters in Britain calling her vulgar. Americans thought the twerking video was hilarious and relatable.' Social media lit up in the States with overwhelmingly positive comments. One fan wrote: 'When she pulls her dress up and drops it low I hollered. Yes Queen!' Another said: 'I love this. It's an incredibly sweet, silly and intimate look into their relationship, something I could never imagine they'd share (a look inside the hospital room of a royal baby's birth!) but I'm so happy they did.' Eric Schiffer, of Reputation Management Consultants, said: 'Meghan wants to connect with Gen Z which demands viral moments. She doesn't care about the UK because that's not where the money is. 'Brits have certain standards they expect of royalty. Americans don't care. To us it's a soap opera.' The duchess has made no secret of her love of wine, naming her pre-Harry blog The Tig after her favourite Italian red, Tignanello. Viewers of her Netflix show With Love, Meghan commented on how often she enjoyed a glass of wine with guests. The rosé will be sourced from grapes grown in California, close to the Sussexes' Montecito mansion. Jessica Gasca, who produces rosé for her company, Story Of Soil in nearby Los Olivos, said: 'The Santa Ynez Valley, in Meghan's backyard, is a prime location for growing all varietals because we have a mountain range that runs East-West with a microclimate that allows warm temperatures during the day for growth and cool ocean winds and fog at night to preserve the acidity. 'Meghan could be partnering with a good winemaker and putting her own label on their wine or she could go in and taste wines from a load of barrels and say 'I'll take this one and that one' and produce her own wine.' Winemaker Amber Hogan from Santa Barbara said: 'I haven't heard about Meghan getting into the wine business, which is surprising because it's a very small industry locally and we all talk.' Meghan launched As Ever in April in conjunction with Netflix, which airs her lifestyle show as part of a $100 million (£74 million) five-year deal. The source said: 'The rosé wine is only the first product in what she and Netflix hope will be a substantial alcohol range, which will include ready-made cocktails and luxury items like flower-infused gin. 'Expect the new products to include more jams like strawberry. She has been exploring lemon curd, which is a very English thing. It's not something most Americans know about.' Meghan has assumed the role of 'chief storyteller'. The source added: 'She has very clear views about the stories she wants to tell around her products. 'Each one means something to her, Harry and their kids and, of course, in Meghan's world everything is perfect.'

Inside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's magical Disney trip that could set you back up to $5,000 - including their controversial snack choices

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and their two children recently took a family trip to Disneyland - and shared some of the details. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, shared special moments from their Disney visit in a post on Instagram. It appears the special time away was, at least in part, to celebrate their daughter Lillibet's fourth birthday. And according to Meghan's post, it appears the family had a good time - sharing details of their trip, including some of the somewhat unusual snacks they enjoyed. Notably, one picture show a large pile of corndogs and pickles on a table. The cost of a two-day trip for a four person family to Disneyland can depend on a range of factors, but it can cost around $5,000. It is not known what the family paid for their holiday, but the pictures certainly made it appear as though they made the most of their time away. As well as having a blast on numerous rides, both Lillibet and their son Archie, six, had the chance to meet Disney princess Elsa from Frozen. Meghan held her children's hands as they slowly walked over to take pictures with the character in a sweet moment. Meghan and Harry's kids also had fun on some rides at the amusement park such as Dumbo the Flying Elephant and the Cars ride. The couple - who tied the knot in 2018 - were spotted having a blast of their own as they sat at the front while on Space Mountain together. One short reel included in the post was taken as the family-of-four excitedly explored Disneyland and also visited the Star Wars troopers. Harry flashed a cheerful smile as he turned towards the camera while sitting next to Lillibet on another ride. At one point, Markle and her family were also seen sporting matching Mickey and Minnie Mouse hats on top of their heads. For her birthday, Lillibet received a Little Mermaid-themed cake that was covered in blue sugary frosting while 'Happy Birthday Lili' was written in pink icing. The Instagram post also had a sweet family photo as they posed outside with a small river behind them. In the caption, Meghan penned to her 3.6 million followers: 'Thank you @disneyland for giving our family two days of pure joy!' Earlier this week on Wednesday, Markle jumped to her main Instagram page to share a rare photo of herself with daughter Lillibet to celebrate her birthday which took place on June 4. In the black and white image, the actress could be seen holding her daughter as they enjoyed a boat ride on the water. She also wrote, 'Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today she came into our lives - and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!' Meghan revealed the family had enjoyed 'two days of pure joy' during their trip to Disneyland in a post on Instagram In a separate post, Meghan uploaded a snap of her husband Harry gently holding Lillibet when she was a newborn. Another picture was taken a couple years later as the pair ran along a dirt path at a scenic tropical location. 'The sweetest bond to watch unfold. Daddy's little girl and favorite adventurer. Happy birthday Lili!' Meghan typed out. Meghan and Prince Harry reside in a Montecito home with Archie and Lillibet - and the Suits alum has previously opened up about their family life. During an interview with People a few months earlier in March, Markle reflected on how they go about each day with 'normalcy.' 'Once you know us, I think you want us to have the same normalcy as parents and for our children as they do, despite however unique our situation is,' she explained to the outlet. 'We go to a lot of dinners, and not just in people's homes or private rooms; we just go into the restaurant. I really love that we can just have fun.' She has been keeping busy and back in March, her Netflix series With Love, Meghan premiered and has also been renewed for a second season. Later this month, Markle will also make an appearance at the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County's Night of Wonder event on Saturday, June 14. It is not known if Prince Harry will also attend with Meghan - but the ball will take place on the same day as Trooping the Colour in the U.K.

Meghan and Harry share rare footage from Lilibet's Disneyland birthday bash

Meghan and Harry have shared rare footage of their children enjoying Lilibet's birthday bash in Disneyland. The Duchess of Sussex can be seen in the Instagram post today wearing Minnie Mouse ears - while the young royal, who turned four last week, was presented with a Little Mermaid cake Prince Harry can also be seen in the video montage on various rides at the theme park in California, and at some points wearing Mickey Mouse ears. The 1946 song It's A Good Day by Peggy Lee is playing over the footage and snaps, including an in-ride photo of Harry and Meghan on the Space Mountain roller coaster. The Duchess captioned the video: 'Thank you @disneyland for giving our family two days of pure joy!' The footage was reminiscent of photos taken of the duke when he was eight and his mother Diana took him and William to Walt Disney World in Florida in 1993. The trio also took a trip to UK-theme park Alton Towers the following year. At the time, the royal siblings were photographed sitting at the front of a log on the Splash Mountain ride, with adults from their mother's entourage behind them and Diana seated at the back. The footage starts with Lilibet seen excitedly dragging her dad through the park entrance before she is given a special greeting by a Disney princess. Next, the whole family are seen on a log flume and then Lilibet appears on a Dumbo ride. A further snap shows Harry and Meghan standing with Archie as they watch a Star Wars stage show featuring Storm Troopers. Another video clip then sees Minnie and Mickey Mouse stuffed toys with 'Happy Birthday Lili' badges before another photo shows Harry beaming as he and his daughter ride a Buzz Lightyear-themed Star Cruiser ride. The two royal kids are then shown on a carousel before a snap shows the Ariel cake, which also says: 'Happy Birthday Lili.' A couple of in-ride photos show Harry, Archie and Meghan on the Cars-themed Radiator Springs Racers attraction - then mum and dad on the famous space coaster. A family snap sees Harry kneeling down to hug his son, six, while Meghan holds Lilibet's hand - with both kids' faces obscured by heart emojis. All the photos of the children in the collection show either the backs of their heads or have their faces covered. Lili – the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's youngest child – was born on June 4 2021 and was named Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. Lilibet is named after her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II. It comes after Meghan, 43, marked Lilibet's birthday on June 4 by posting a video of her in 2021 twerking in a hospital room in an effort to induce labour. While wild conspiracy theorists have branded it fake, experts say every pregnancy bump is different - whether it's large or small, high or low, wide or pointy, it's all completely normal. It's been suggested Meghan posted the video to quell rumours that her pregnancy was faked, and that she wore a prosthetic fake pregnant belly known as a 'moonbump'. Pip Davies, an NHS midwife and co-founder of Midwife Pip Podcast (@midwife_pip) told Sun Health it's completely normal for baby bumps to come in all shapes and sizes, especially as you near the end of pregnancy. She explained: 'Everybody carries differently, and factors like muscle tone, baby's position, and even your height can affect how your bump looks and this can change regularly with time of day, day on day or week on week.'

Lilibet, who was named after the late Queen's childhood nickname, is barefoot and wearing a pink dress with bows in another picture of all four posing together. Other photographs show Lilibet's Little Mermaid birthday cake, Mickey and Minnie Mouse stuffed dolls and plates of pickles and corn dogs.
