Lily James stuns in a pale yellow floral yukata as she shares a series of glamorous snaps from her Tokyo getaway with best pal Gala Gordon

Lily James took to Instagram on Monday to share a series of glamorous snaps from her recent Tokyo getaway with close pal Gala Gordon. The actress, 36, looked effortlessly elegant in a pale yellow floral yukata as the pair took part in a traditional Japanese cooking class. For the occasion, Lily styled her brunette locks in a chic updo, finishing the look with a matching yellow flower tucked behind her ear as she beamed for the camera. Gala, 34, looked equally stunning in a white yukata adorned with a purple and pink floral print. She mirrored her pal's hairstyle with a sleek updo and accessorised with a delicate pink flower. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new showbiz newslette r to stay in the loop. In another stylish snap, Lily turned heads in a white semi-sheer blouse featuring a unique black spray-paint print as the duo enjoyed an evening of delicious cuisine. Meanwhile, Gala looked effortlessly chic in a black bandeau top as she grinned alongside Lily during their fun-filled trip. Sharing the stunning snaps to Instagram, Lily gushed: 'Tokyo, I love you.' The holiday snaps come after Lily cut a chic figure as she joined Elle Macpherson at Dior's runway show in Kyoto, Japan in April. The actress showed off her sophisticated sense of style in a plunging black dress as she posed at the event held at the Toji Temple. She boosted her height with pearl-adorned heels and accessorised with gold hoop earrings while styling her honey tresses into perfect waves. Model Elle, 61, meanwhile wore a gorgeous silk embroidered white jacket which she teamed with wide-leg trousers. She clutched a small white handbag from the luxury brand and sported a perfect bouncy blowdry. Lily's appearance at the fashion show comes after she celebrated her 36th birthday earlier this year at a Michelin-starred restaurant in North London with her famous friends. The star splashed out on a private dining room at modern Italian restaurant, Luca, not far from Lily's Grade-II listed £3million home. Hiring a private space at the lavish eatery which has a minimum spend of £650, with the chef's fixed menu, including a wine pairing with each course, costs nearly £200 per person. Lily was all smiles as she was joined by several close friends including her Mamma Mia! co-star, Dominic Cooper, his girlfriend, actress Gemma Chan, actress Gala Gordon and socialite Poppy Delevingne, older sister of model Cara. Gala and Poppy took to Instagram to share pictures showing Lily looking happier than ever as she celebrated her day. She looked relaxed in a khaki sleeveless dress cut away at the waist, showing off her slender frame. The Surrey-born star and her friends drank champagne and red wine while feasting on a menu with mouth-watering items including £68 beef ribeye, £49 lamb with spiky artichoke and pine nuts and fresh pasta dishes such as £46 prawn taglierini. At the end of the meal, Lily was treated to a big white birthday cake adorned with multi-coloured candles, meringue balls and an icing photo of herself as a child in an early acting role. 'Keep shining my girl - this is your year,' her close friend Gala captioned a video online. Gala is an executive producer of Swiped, the film starring Lily as Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder of dating app Bumble, due out this year. Gala is also co-founder of a film production company, Parados Productions, with Lily.

Liv Morgan's return confirmed? WWE star set to rejoin Raw on May 26

Liv Morgan could be back on WWE TV as early as tonight's episode of Raw, May 26. The Women's Tag Team Champion hasn't been seen on-screen for about a month, but that break was due to her role in the upcoming film Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, where she stars alongside Lily James. She recently returned home after wrapping up her part in the movie. Since then, fans have been buzzing about when she'll be back—and now there's more reason to believe it's happening tonight. Fightful Select first reported that she might be making her return on the May 26 edition of Raw. PWInsider also backed that up, saying WWE creative has already added her to tonight's plans. Could Liv Morgan enter the Money in the Bank picture? Time to rejoice as Liv Morgan returns to #WWERaw tonight! Monday Night Morgan is back baby!!! With WWE building up towards the Money in the Bank event on June 7, the timing lines up. Liv could enter the mix for the women's ladder match, especially since she's still one-half of the Women's Tag Team Champions. Her return would add excitement to a Raw episode that's already packed with key matches. Tonight's show will also feature two big Money in the Bank qualifying matches and a triple threat tag title clash. Add Liv Morgan's possible return into the mix, and Raw might just deliver one of its strongest episodes in weeks.

Move over boxers, it's the season of the bloomer

We've had exposed thongs, pants as pants and boxer shorts as shorts. But now there is a new, arguably even more unexpected underwear as outerwear trend. Welcome to the spring of big, frilly bloomers. The Guardian's journalism is independent. We will earn a commission if you buy something through an affiliate link. Learn more. The 19th century undergarment has been thrust into the 21st century spotlight with a string of celebrities and influencers channelling their inner Folie Bergere dancer - including the actor Lily James, Alexa Chung and Camille Charrière. Social media is peppered with gen Z and millennials styling Victorian bloomers, found on vintage sites or on the high street with band T-shirts, crop tops and cardigans. Free People's £88 'forever young pants', which come in six different colours and are bedecked in a dramatic lace trim, are proving particularly popular. But it is worth noting that not all the garments being touted as bloomers are in fact technically bloomers. The term has also become incorrectly interchangeable with pantaloons (18th century billowing shaped trousers typically fastened around the calf). In 2025, anything with a vaguely balloon-like shape, or featuring lace trimming at the hem, is being lumped together. Retailers such as ASOS and Urban Outfitters are selling pairs of 'micro bloomer shorts', while Alaïa has a pair of bloomer adjacent trousers for £1,560. Chemena Kamali, the creative director of Chloé, could be hailed as the catalyst behind the revival. Her spring/summer '25 show last September featured several bloomers, in sheer lace and apricot silk-charmeuse tied around the ankle or tapered at the knee. Vogue described the look as having 'the potential to reshape how young women think about sexy dressing in 2025.' 'They have an effortless charm and a playfulness to them, while being one of the most comfortable items in your wardrobe,' says Flora Sharp, director of Flora Mae, a London-based brand that handcrafts garments based on historical references using repurposed fabrics. Over the past year her 'Verona' bloomers have become the most popular item on her site. Her customers span New York to London, are aged between 18-34 and have, as Sharp describes, a 'strong interest in fashion history and sustainability.' That history charts the genesis of bloomers back to Amelia Bloomer, a New York born suffragist who, during the 1850s, inspired women to free themselves from tight-fitting corsets and crinolines and instead wear shortened dresses over Turkish-style pantaloons. In 1851, American suffragists drew international attention to the style when they wore bloomers to the World's Peace Congress in London. It sparked wide backlash, with 'Bloomerites' harassed and arrested on the street. Bloomer later reflected that the fury surrounding them was symbolic, it hinted at the larger-scale 'usurpation of the rights of man.' While other historical garments, including corsets and even chainmail, have re-emerged as modern trends, Sharp says bloomers are the first to have 'an element of comfortability.' Her £65 versions are based on original Victorian designs but adapted for today. 'Antique examples often have an impractical 'split leg' feature, are unrealistically small at the waist, and can be made of very fine cotton, making them see-through.' Using vintage cotton, Sharp adds an elasticated waist and an adjustable drawstring bow detail around the ankles in order to fit a wider range of bodies. Fans seem to enjoy their versatility. Sharp says that they appeal to people 'increasingly drawn to experimental and subversive styling'. They have 'the potential to be layered in different ways, peeking from underneath a skirt as they may have been worn in the 19th century, or as a statement piece on their own.' One thing to consider before donning the bloomer? Passerbys might still think it's blooming mad. 'I Have To Feel Confident In What I'm Wearing': Lily James On Her Personal Style And Dressing Up For Dior In Kyoto

It's going to be a big year for Lily James. Later this year, she's set to star as Whitney Wolfe Herd, the female founder of dating app Bumble, in the film Swiped. It's a fitting role for the Surrey-born actress, who's made a name for herself playing strong, complex women – from Pamela Anderson in Pam & Tommy to Natasha Rostova in War & Peace. As well as starring in Swiped, James is producing the project, alongside 20th Century Studios and another company, Ethea Entertainment. James is the co-founder of her own production company, Parados Productions, which she launched alongside Gala Gordon to champion fresh voices and female-led stories. It was also recently announced that will also star in an upcoming horror film Let the Evil Go West, reuniting with her Pam & Tommy co-star Sebastian Stan. FIND OUT MORE ON ELLE COLLECTIVE James' previous roles include an aristocrat in Downton Abbey, a fairy-tale princess in Cinderella, and a young Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, as well as starring roles in Baby Driver, Rebecca, Darkest Hour, and The Dig. Off-screen, James is an avid beauty buff, a longtime muse for Charlotte Tilbury and vintage perfume hoarder. Whether she's on a red carpet or travelling for a film shoot, she's rarely without a carefully curated makeup kit in tow. ELLE UK caught up with James in Kyoto as she prepped for Dior's cruise show – talking beauty rituals, personal style and her classic Dior look for the night. This is my third time in Kyoto and it's a very meaningful place to me. I have found Japan to be such a source of inspiration and can see why Christian Dior was so enchanted by the country and the culture. To watch the show in such a beautiful and historic place with the cherry blossom still in bloom makes it all the more magical. I love to take a long, hot bath with lots of bath salts and essential oils. I always try to use a face mask before we start makeup to make sure my skin is really hydrated. Skin prep is so key because then your makeup sits so beautifully on your skin. And after a long flight, you really need to hydrate; I found some amazing Japanese face masks in a chemist in Tokyo. Combined with the Dior Capture line, inspired by regenerative medicine. I love the new Serum, my skin feels so much smoother and firmer. I absolutely love the lip glow oil in every colour, but the colour Rosewood is my favourite. It creates the perfect lip plumping, glossy look that you can wear at any time, night or day. I also love the Dior Forever Nude Bronze. It's a quick, easy way to elevate your skin without much makeup. My dress tonight is very chic and elegant. I love the silhouette – it feels like a modern rendition of Dior's new look. It's incredible that Dior staged a couture show in Japan in the 1950's and it's such a privilege to see his legacy enduring in Kyoto 72 years later in Maria Grazia Chiuri's new collection. I work with my stylist, Rebecca Corbin Murray, to find an outfit that looks and feels right. It really is a strong feeling as soon as I put the right outfit on. We've worked together for a lot of time, so there's a great synergy between us. I have to feel confident in what I'm wearing, and if I don't, I feel so nervous, and I can't walk out the door. I'm very low-key in my personal style. I am always dressing up for the characters I play and different events I go to, so in my downtime, I love to be quite simple and effortless. Good tailoring is key, as well as a great handbag. I adore my new Dior travel bag. Yes, I walked the philosopher's path, and I visited the temples and shrines along the way. The cherry blossom was falling in the wind as I walked along the canal. I feel such a strong sense of peace and hopefulness when I am here. I would take the Japanese tradition of bathing, as well as using essential oils. Here, there's a strong emphasis on natural ingredients like rice bran, green tea and algae, which have amazing antioxidant and moisturising properties. Angry Birds 3 announced for 2027 as video game adaptations take over box office

Paramount Pictures has officially announced the release of Angry Birds 3, set to hit theaters on January 29, 2027, marking a bold return to animation amid a booming market for video game movie adaptations. The news arrives as the Minecraft movie stuns at the box office, showing growing global demand for game-based entertainment. Unlike the previous two installments, Angry Birds 3 will be produced by DNEG Animation and Sega Sammy Group, the new parent company of Rovio, without involvement from Sony Pictures, who distributed the original films. Keke Palmer and Lily James will join the original voice cast, promising new comedic dynamics. The first Angry Birds Movie (2016), directed by Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly, grossed $352.3 million globally, while the sequel, Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019), brought in $147.8 million, totaling over $500 million worldwide. The second film, directed by Thurop Van Orman, received critical praise and holds a 73% Rotten Tomatoes score, making it one of the most successful video game-based animated films pre-COVID. This new sequel comes at a time when gaming IPs are thriving in Hollywood. Following the success of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, sequels like Super Mario Bros. 2, Five Nights at Freddy's 2, and Mortal Kombat 2 are also in development, highlighting a trend of studios betting big on beloved video game franchises. The Angry Birds franchise originally launched as a mobile game in 2009, quickly evolving into a multimedia brand. Paramount's move into animation with this title aligns with past efforts like The SpongeBob Movie, Wonder Park, and PAW Patrol: The Movie. With new talent, a fresh studio, and momentum from current box office trends, Angry Birds 3 is poised to soar once again in 2027.
