Turek and Merolillo lead Mineral Ridge to victory
ATWATER, Ohio (WKBN) – Mineral Ridge's softball team has now put together back-to-back wins, after falling in successive matchups against Boardman and Garfield, following their 8-1 road win at Waterloo.
Lily Merolillo threw the first 5 innings, striking out 6 while allowing 5 hits for the win in the circle. Savannah Turek came in to close the door by pitching a nearly perfect final two innings.
Turek led the team at the plate as the sophomore finished with 3 hits, a double, and two RBIs. Seven other Rams were able to reach base on a single.
Mineral Ridge returns to action on Saturday when they'll travel to Jackson-Milton.
The Vikings have dropped two straight games since their win over Springfield on Monday.
