Jennifer Garner to Star in Sci-Fi Drama Feature ZYGOTE From Alyssa Hill — GeekTyrant
Four-time Emmy nominated actress Jennifer Garner ( Alias , 13 Going On 30 , Deadpool & Wolverine ) has signed on to star in the sci-fi drama feature Zygote , based on a short story by Alyssa Hill, who is on board to adapt the screenplay. The film follows Parisa (Garner), an elite crisis negotiator who is sent 254 miles from Earth as a response to hostages on the International Space Station. Due to the unexpected nature of the expedition, Parisa quickly realizes this could be her final mission, as she is forced to confront the limits of her life's work alongside her own mortality. The project has not yet found a director, but Kara Durrett and Jessamine Burgum of Pinky Promise will produce alongside Riva Marker and Deanna Barillari of Linden Productions. Mia Samuels of Linden will oversee the project after sealing the deal for rights to the film, in tandem with Barillari. Garner is coming off of success with The Last Thing He Told Me , Apple's hit series adaptation of the New York Times bestseller by Laura Dave. She exec produces and stars in the series, which has wrapped production on a second season after launching as a limited series. Garner has also recently led the Netflix family comedies Family Switch (produced by Linden Productions) and Yes Day , with the latter garnering the streamer's biggest Kids & Family film launch to date. Sarah Michelle Gellar to Star in "Bad Summer People" TV Adaptation in Development
Yara Sameh Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dexter: Original Sin) has come on board to star in and executive produce Bad Summer People, a TV series adaptation of the bestselling novel by Emma Rosenblum. Cara DiPaolo (No Good Deed) will write and executive produce the project, produced by Linden Productions (Family Switch) and A+E Studios (The Lincoln Lawyer) which will develop it internally before taking it out to buyers. Also executive producing are Riva Marker and Deanna Barillari with Linden Productions, and JoAnne Colonna. "Bad Summer People", which has drawn comparisons to "The White Lotus", is set in the idyllic fictional town of Salcombe, Fire Island, and follows a sequence of life-shattering events when a body is discovered off the side of the boardwalk. The series will be centered on frenemies and master manipulators, Jen Weinstein, and Lauren Parker. They, alongside their husbands, childhood friends Sam and Jason, have summered together on the island for years, but this summer everything will come to a head as lifelong grudges and secrets are unearthed. Gellar is recurring on the Showtime series "Dexter: Original Sin" and is set to continue on the upcoming second season. Known for "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", she will reprise her titular role in the Buffyverse Hulu pilot from 20th Television and Searchlight TV, directed by Chloé Zhao. "Bad Summer People" was published in 2023 by Macmillan. Rosenblum is also the bestselling author of Very Bad Company.
