Beaufort County Community College set to launch Therapeutic Massage Program
WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) — Beaufort County Community College is set to launch their Therapeutic Massage Program in Fall 2025. This program will help to expand Beaufort County Community College's healthcare and wellness offerings to meet the growing regional demand. Beaufort CCC will also transition its Esthetics Technology certificate program back into the curriculum to help students pursue careers in skincare and wellness. Both programs are pending review by the State Board of Community Colleges. Students that hope to receive the Therapeutic Massage diploma will gain hands-on experience in therapeutic techniques, anatomy, physiology, and client care over 39 credit hours and a one-year course of study. Graduates will be eligible to take the North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam. 'This program will help our students work locally in a healthcare career that may align better with their goals than our current offerings,' Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Lisa Hill said. 'It offers a meaningful career path for students while addressing the wellness needs of our aging population.' Beaufort CCC will also be returning its Esthetics Technology certificate, which will only be 16 hours. 'This will give our Cosmetology students a chance to expand into skincare and self-care to build a more resilient and dynamic career,' said Dr. Hill. 'The field appeals to a broad range of individuals, including those already working in the beauty industry who are looking to diversify their skills.' Both programs are covered under the Beaufort Promise Scholarship, so qualifying residents of Beaufort, Hyde, Tyrrell, and Washington counties can have their tuition and fees paid for. Basket raffle raises money for local dog pound
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – One local organization hosted a basket raffle fundraiser on Sunday to help dogs find their forever homes. Friends of Fido held its Brunch and Baskets event at Penguin City Brewing. Attendees could enjoy a build-your-own breakfast and over 50 basket raffles, which included items like purses and jewelry, lottery tickets and gift cards. The goal was to raise between $2,000 and $3,000. Proceeds from the event go to the Mahoning County Dog Warden to help with expenses such as medical and training fees. 'The support from the community is invaluable because we have dogs coming into the pound every day and recently, most of them need medical help through no fault of their own,' said Lisa Hill, Mahoning County Dog Warden. Friends of Fido's next event will be its vendor show, which takes place in April. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
