Miami-Dade and Broward are under a flood watch as more rounds of rain on the way
After several days of persistent rain, Wednesday will be a transitional day as the wet weather will not be as intense nor as widespread. Miami-Dade and Broward are under a flood watch through 5 p.m. Wednesday. While scattered storms capable of producing a quick 1 to 2 inches will be most common on Wednesday, there is the potential for a band of storms to impact the same location with heavy rain multiple times, according to the National Weather Service. It said should this occur, a quick 4 to 6 inches of rainfall is not out of the question. Broward's most active rain period will be around noon and 1 p.m. Miami-Dade's most active period will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. There is a low level risk of flash flooding. The reason for the relentless rain is a low pressure system over the Gulf of America. On Wednesday, it will begin to move north so South Florida's weather will improve. Adding to that improvement is Saharan dust which is beginning to creep in. NEXT Weather meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez said the widespread rain we've experienced over the last few days will end around midday. On Thursday, the chance of rain is 60% and that drops to 30% on Friday. Saturday and Sunday will see a more typical rainy season pattern with highs around 90 degrees.

Strong storms and damaging winds possible in parts of Miami-Dade, Broward in the afternoon
South Florida is bracing for potentially strong storms this afternoon and evening, including heavy rainfall and localized flooding in some areas. The NEXT Weather Team had issued NEXT Weather Alert Day for Friday due to the potential for strong to severe afternoon storms. NEXT Weather meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez says the most active period for stormy weather will be from noon through 8 p.m. The main concern will be storms which could contain damaging wind, hail, and isolated heavy downpours. The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of Miami-Dade and Broward at a marginal risk for isolated strong storms on Friday. The heating of the day will help fuel those storms. Friday afternoon highs will be around 90 degrees. While the risk level is marginal, the lowest on the SPC's five-tier scale, residents are urged to stay weather-aware, especially during peak storm times. Outdoor plans and commutes could be impacted by sudden downpours or localized severe conditions. The heat continues through Memorial Day Weekend with afternoon highs near 90 degrees and "feels like" temperatures in the mid to upper 90s. The chance of rain is 30% for scattered showers.

Miami is going to feel the heat for a 10-day stretch. How steamy will it get?
Memorial Day in Miami is generally hot. So, Mother Nature is giving us a 10-day dry run to prepare. Better get your bodies acclimated and hydrated because South Florida is looking at a run of highs in the low-90s Friday through the coming week. There's little chance of rain to cool us down. And the 'feels-like' temperatures that could yield heat stroke and heat exhaustion could hit the triple digits. 'The combination of high heat and humidity could make it feel more like 100 degrees in some areas,' said CBS News Miami meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez in her Friday forecast when it already hit 84 by 10 a.m. and was forecast to hit 90. At this point, the National Weather Service in Miami has not issued heat advisories. Heat advisory and excessive heat warning advisories are issued in Miami-Dade and Broward counties when heat index figures, the combination of dew point and temperature, are forecast to reach a certain number and maintain that high for at least two hours. Heat advisory triggers at 105 or higher. Excessive heat warning triggers at 110 or higher. A week of high temperatures Here is CBS Miami's temperature forecast for the week. National Weather Service has lower highs in the upper-80s and higher lows around 80 for the period. ▪ Saturday and Sunday: 91 high, 77 low. ▪ Monday: 92, 77. ▪ Tuesday-Wednesday: 92, 78. ▪ Thursday: 91, 79.
