Kings' Domantas Sabonis supports changing the NBA All-Star Game to Team USA vs. Team World
Sacramento Kings big man Domantas Sabonis is a Lithuanian-American basketball player. He has made three NBA All-Star appearances and he would support changing the format of the game.
Basketball fans received some good news about the NBA All-Star Game from commissioner Adam Silver, and they should feel very excited.
During an appearance on FS1 on Wednesday morning, Silver was asked about plans for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. He has made several changes to the format of the game since taking over as commissioner, including a change that he admitted was a "miss" last season.
Fortunately, the next change that Silver is planning is one that should have been made a long time ago. After the tremendous success of the NHL's 4 Nations Face-Off, it sounds like the next NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles at the Intuit Dome will feature USA vs. the World.
More: The NBA made the All-Star Game about everything but its All-Stars
While some stars like Nikola Jokić have maintained that the league should not worry about fixing the NBA All-Star Game, others like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Domantas Sabonis have suggested an international format as well.
Silver heard them and is planning to implement the suggestion as soon as next season.

Here is more from Silver:
"Next, as part of our new media deals, the All-Star Game returns to NBC ... It so happens that next season will be smack in the middle of the winter Olympics. So the game will be on NBC and the very day we're on will be the lead-in winter Olympic events and coming out of the All-Star Game, which will now be in the afternoon instead of the evening, there will be more Olympic events. So what better time to feature some form of USA against the World."
Silver confirmed that he is not sure what the format will be quite yet, but that he paid a lot off attention to what the NHL did earlier this year.
While this was arguably long overdue, it gives the players some extra reason to put a pep in their step for some competitiveness when they take the court to put on an exciting show for the exhibition.
