Bier Brewery's South Simcoe is an IPA for summer sipping
I am a big fan of IPAs, but I struggle with the typically high ABVs (6.5% or higher).
The intrigue: I have found the perfect, not-as-strong IPA that you can comfortably sip all summer.
And no, it's not a session IPA, which usually have lower ABVs but (in my opinion) often aren't as good.
Brew of the week: Bier Brewery's South Simcoe, a hazy American IPA with 5% ABV and 40 IBU.
Bier describes South Simcoe as having "a juicy mango and pineapple finish."
My take: It has a lightly fruity taste, but neither of those flavors are overpowering.
If a hazy IPA is not your thing, I also recommend the Little Baddie — Bier's west coast pale ale that also clocks in at only 5% ABV.
Pro tip: Bier has three locations in the Indy area — 65th Street, Carmel and Noblesville — but go enjoy a beverage at their massive outdoor space with patio tables, fire pits, a playground for kids, bocce courts, cornhole and a dog park in Noblesville.
