Detroit Red Wings revive "Hockeytown" at center ice to celebrate team's 100th season

The word "Hockeytown" is returning to center ice at Little Caesars Arena for the Detroit Red Wings' 100th season, the team announced Friday. The "Hey Hey Hockeytown" logo design was revealed in a video posted on social media following a multi-week fan vote. According to the team, the logo "pays homage to a century of rich hockey tradition in Detroit, while also representing the team's present and future." Single-game tickets for the 2025-2026 season are on sale now. On Thursday, the Red Wings announced they will be hosting their training camp in Traverse City, Michigan. The three-day camp is scheduled for Sept. 18 through Sept. 20 at the Centre ICE Arena. Last season, Detroit was 10th in the Eastern Conference with a 39-35-8 record and did not make the playoffs. Since that time, the organization has acquired goalie John Gibson and signed Patrick Kane to a one-year, $3 million extension. In July, the Red Wings traded away 33-year-old Vladimir Tarasenko to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for future considerations. Note: The above video first aired on June 30, 2025.

Katy Perry Stops Detroit Show To Assist Fan Who Collapsed Onstage

Michigan concertgoers got a bit of a fright Sunday when a fan collapsed onstage at the Detroit stop of Katy Perry's Lifetimes Tour. The incident took place during the 'Choose Your Own Adventure' segment of the show, when Perry traditionally invites audience members to accompany her in a performance of a fan-selected song from her catalog. Footage of Sunday's show, captured for posterity by Michigan-based outlet MLive, shows Perry welcoming four young fans, including one who identifies herself as McKenna, to the stage at Little Caesars Arena. After a brief introduction, the 13-time Grammy nominee tells the fans they'll be joining her in a live rendition of 'The One That Got Away,' at which point McKenna collapses to the ground, prompting many in the crowd to gasp audibly. Watch footage of the incident below. Perry can be seen kneeling beside McKenna as members of her touring company come to the girl's aid. Eventually, medical staff removed McKenna from the stage on a stretcher, according to reports. Moments later, Perry asked her fans to join her in a brief prayer for McKenna so 'that she will come back fully and brighter and better than ever.' 'It's so much. Sometimes you're so brave and you can get on stage, and it's overwhelming,' she remarked, per Billboard. 'I understand that feeling.' Toward the end of the show, Perry assured the audience that McKenna had recovered and was 'doing great,' but offered no further details. Perry kicked off her Lifetimes Tour in April following the 2024 release of her latest album, '143.' The tour is set to conclude Dec. 7 in Abu Dhabi, following performances across the U.S., Latin America, Europe and Asia. The Sunday show was Perry's first performance in Michigan in seven years. The Detroit News commended the pop star for keeping her performance on track in spite of the unexpected drama while praising the concert as one of her 'most satisfying shows, a focused piece that, while reveling in spectacle, avoided some of the momentum-reducing excesses of her previous productions.' Katy Perry fan COLLAPSES on stage prompting singer to ask for 'prayers'

A young fan collapsed on stage at Katy Perry 's concert on Sunday. Each night on her Lifetimes tour, the 40-year-old singer invites fans on stage to help her perform the 2011 single The One That Got Away. But the excitement was too much for one young fan, named McKenna, who passed out as Perry prepared to start the song. According to Billboard, the icon called McKenna and a pal down from the very top corner of Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan for the song. When the youngster collapsed she was attended to by members of the Perry's crew and venue medical staff as the songbird knelt down beside her. After she was taken from the stage, Perry pulled the other three young fans into a group hug for a prayer, saying: 'Dear God, we pray for McKenna, that she will come back fully and brighter and better than ever. Amen.' She added: 'It's so much. Sometimes you're so brave and you can get on stage, and it's overwhelming. I understand that feeling.' Later, she told the crowd: 'McKenna's doing great, by the way.' Meanwhile, two weeks ago, Katy suffered a scare during her concert in San Francisco when the mechanical butterfly she was riding through the air suddenly dropped a few feet. Katy quickly composed herself and resumed singing her song Roar, before declaring at the end of the track 'Not today Satan'. This comes after news Katy's ex Orlando Bloom will not have to testify in her legal dispute over her $15 million property. The 48-year-old actor recently announced his split from Katy, 40, and he will now not have to be deposed or take the stand in the upcoming trial, Us Weekly reports. In 2020, Katy bought the property from Carl Westcott, before he tried to back out of the deal, arguing that he was under the influence of painkillers when he signed the paperwork. He subsequently sued Bernie Gudvi, Katy's business manager, claiming that the deal was not legally enforceable. Katy's legal team always maintained that the agreement was valid and she took legal ownership of the property in 2024. However, Westcott has continued to pursue the issue and his legal team asked for permission to depose Bloom ahead of the trial, suggesting that he was relevant witness in the case. But those claims have been dismissed by the court, which believes the actor's insights could be obtained through a third party. Katy and Orlando announced their break-up in July, having been engaged since 2019. A statement read: 'Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry's relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting. 'They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.' Meanwhile, Katy - who is one of the best-selling musicians in the world - has recently been linked to Justin Trudeau, the former Prime Minister of Canada. The duo were spotted been spending time together in Montreal, prompting speculation about their relationship status. A source told People: 'Their own personal responsibilities could make this relationship move slower than it would, but there are ways to see the other and still fulfill their parenting responsibilities.

Katy Perry Fan Collapses on Stage During Lifetimes Tour Stop in Detroit

Katy Perry's Lifetimes Tour stop in Detroit turned a bit more dramatic than planned on Sunday night. A young girl collapsed mid-show during Perry's nightly ritual of bringing a few fans on stage to help her perform her 2011 single 'The One That Got Away.' Perry even waited for her and a friend who came with her to make the long trip down to the floor level and embraced both as they came on stage, McKenna clearly overcome with emotion for being chosen. She fainted as Perry prepared to start the song and was immediately attended to by members of the singer's crew and venue medical staff; a visibly concerned Perry knelt alongside her as the crowd of about 13,000 chanted McKenna's name in support. She was taken from the stage, after which Katy pulled the other three young fans into a group hug and led a prayer, saying, 'Dear God, we pray for McKenna, that she will come back fully and brighter and better than ever. Perry then performed 'The One That Got Away' and ushered the other three fans back off the stage. A short time later, while riding a giant butterfly prop above the crowd, she reported that, 'McKenna's doing great, by the way,' which was also confirmed to Billboard by backstage sources. Perry also shouted the fan's name at the end of the song. Sunday's show was the 13th in the latest North American Leg of the Lifetimes Tour, which Perry kicked off during late April in Mexico City. Katy Perry brings pop spectacle to Detroit, prays aloud after fan medical incident onstage

Katy Perry didn't wait long Sunday night to get the wacky performance high jinks going at Little Caesars Arena. Lifted high above her figure-eight stage, ensconced in a rig of illuminated hoops and wired up like an android, the pop star kicked off what promised to be a two-hour fun ride for an adoring Detroit audience. Still, there was one scary moment 80 minutes into the show, instantly bringing the arena to a hush: A young fan invited onstage for a sing-along segment abruptly collapsed as Perry prepared to launch into song. The girl, who looked to be in her early teens, appeared overwhelmed from the moment she walked to the stage, when she broke into tears and wrapped her arms around the star in a long embrace. As security and medical staffers rushed up after her collapse, Perry kicked into mom mode, crouching down and offering words of encouragement. The fan was ultimately joined by her mother and treated at the backstage first aid area, a show official told the Free Press, though no further updates were available late Sunday. Onstage, Perry rounded up three other young fans in a group hug and offered a prayer for the ailing girl. Perry, now 40 and mother of a 4-year-old daughter, was making her first Detroit visit in eight years as part of her global Lifetimes Tour. Which means — by a rough eyeball estimate — about 20% of Sunday's crowd wasn't yet born the last time she played LCA. It was clear the millennials who made up the pop star's early KatyCats fandom were now back with their own kids in tow, many of them attired in sparkly outfits and song-inspired costumes. Perry arrived at LCA at a seeming career crossroads, with a much-maligned new album and naysayers arguing she's in need a musical refresh. Early videos from the tour had zeroed in on her clunky moves and jumping-jack dances. Her stature at the forefront of the pop zeitgeist increasingly appeared locked in a 2015 time capsule. But Perry's performance Sunday was infectious, bold and unapologetic — by no means the cringeworthy disaster it was painted as when those viral clips made her an internet punching bag this spring. Silliness has long been part of the Katy Perry shtick, sharing equal billing with her soaring choruses and upbeat affirmations. And so taken on its own terms – a pop concert initiation for young fans – Sunday's show was a perfectly fine arena spectacle. 'They can say what they want to say,' Perry told the crowd during a late-show performance of 'Part of Me,' which included her go at twerking. 'But this is who I am.' It was a night of metal contraptions, high-flying adventures over the crowd, cartoonishly oversized props and cyberpunk imagery with a whimsical flavor. The concert unfolded with Perry as a character stepping up levels in a live-action video game. Sure, she's no virtuoso on the dance and choreography front, with moves that owe more to jazzercise than to Janet Jackson. But her 10-man backing troupe was there to pick up that slack, leaving room for Perry to do her main thing — like battling a masked ninja with a two-sided lightsaber, as she did on 'E.T.' She spent plenty of time up in the air: 'Roar' had her riding overhead on a giant butterfly, 'Nirvana' was a high-flying moment in a Pink-style harness, 'I Kissed a Girl' raised her up in a scaffolded globe. Songs from last year's '143' album were heavily sprinkled among the old hits most fans had flocked to LCA to hear. 'Dark Horse' was the night's first big crowd igniter, part of a litany of signature smashes that included 'California Gurls,' 'Teenage Dream,' 'Hot n Cold,' 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)' and a souped-up EDM rendition of 'Wide Awake.' The anthemic stuff came late in the set, as 'Part of Me,' 'Rise' and 'Roar' built to Perry's requisite climactic moment: a rousing closing performance of 'Firework.'
