Suspect charged with historic sexual assaults on Manitoulin Island

A 62-year-old from M'Chigeeng First Nation has been charged with multiple sexual assaults and drug offences following an investigation into a historic sexual assault.
The investigation began June 18, when Ontario Provincial Police in Little Current received information regarding a sexual assault that occurred in the First Nation between 2010 and 2025.
Sex assault with a weapon
The suspect has since been charged with three counts of sexual assault with a weapon, sexual assault, communicating with someone for the purpose of obtaining sexual services and three drug trafficking charges.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on a later date.
