Dean Brody headlines Troubadour Festival in the heart of Barrie in just 5 days

(THE CANADIAN PRESS/Dave Chidley) In just five days, Downtown Barrie will transform into a vibrant concert venue as the Troubadour Festival Summer Concert Series gets underway. On Saturday night, Canadian country music star Dean Brody will take the stage at Meridian Place, launching the first of four free shows that make up this highly anticipated summer series. Brody is one of Canada's most celebrated country artists, with two JUNO Awards and 18 Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMAs), including Entertainer of the Year and Male Artist of the Year. With 34 Top Ten singles, eight of which reached number one. Brody has over 425 million global streams and is known for his powerful storytelling, dynamic stage presence, and chart-topping hits like 'Bring Down the House' and 'Canadian Summer.' Three emerging musicians from across the region have been selected to perform as part of the Local Opener Showcase. The winners—Cam Brown, Rebekah Hawker, and Lance Dobinson—were announced on May 30. Each will take the Meridian Place stage on Sat., June 14, performing 30-minute sets ahead of Dean Brody, who headlines the opening night. Saturday's festivities will begin with the Local Opener Showcase Series from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by Brody's headlining performance at 8:30 p.m. The Troubadour Festival Summer Concert Series is a free, open-air music event presented by CTV Barrie, Pure Country 106, BOUNCE 104.1, and the Downtown Barrie BIA. The event takes place at Meridian Place, right in the heart of the city. For a chance to win a meet-and-greet with Dean Brody, tune into Stan Musial with Pure Country 106 each afternoon this week. Winners will be announced on Friday.
