Logan was introduced in The Gold as a university friend of Isle of Man money launderer Douglas. The pair went to Cambridge University together but it looked like Logan had ended up much better off than Douglas. Logan was operating a dodgy business out of the Caribbean despite his boarding school background and 'golden boy of Cambridge' reputation. ‌ Thanks to Charlie Miller (Sam Spruell), Logan and Douglas were brought back together to launder his half of the proceeds from the Brink's-Mat gold. Logan Campbell is a respected businessman in The Gold (Image: BBC ) Shedding light on the character of Logan, The Gold's creator Neil Forsyth confirmed he was just a fictional entity. ‌ He explained: 'Logan Campbell is also a composite character inspired by of some of those involved with the Brink's-Mat criminal enterprises, in this case - the laundering of a huge amount of money that was produced by the proceeds of the Brink's-Mat robbery. 'He was already criminally minded, laundering money for a South American drug cartel in the Caribbean. 'You almost couldn't get further away from the Brink's-Mat Heathrow depot than the Caribbean, and having this well-respected member of the expat community that ended up laundering Brink's-Mat money was fascinating.' ‌ Forsyth did a huge amount of research for The Gold but admitted that to present a 'cohesive' version of the story, creative licence was employed with a disclaimer shown at the start of each episode to reflect this. During the course of his research for season two, Forsyth revealed how the team found 'these lovely little nuggets' of information that could be extrapolated into storylines. Teasing his character, Victoria and Malpractice star Hughes said: 'On the surface Logan appears to be someone who has everything. All in balance. Success and contentment. But it's a veneer. A creation. 'Underneath is a well of complexity and self-loathing and pain. He's running away from himself in many ways and that makes him dangerous, and cold to the touch.
