Video: UK Prison Inmates Smile, Then Beat Sex Offender To Death
CCTV footage from a prison in the UK showed two inmates grinning moments before they killed a convicted sex offender in his cell. Mahir Abdulrahman was found unresponsive in his cell at the HMP Fosse Way, a new Category C jail, in Leicestershire's Glen Parva on August 20 last year. He was pronounced dead at the scene, BBC reported. Abdulrahman was serving a 35-week sentence for sex offences. The video, released on May 29, features Ashirie Smith, 19, and his fellow inmate Thierry Robinson, 21, walking down a hallway of the facility. One of them can be seen smiling as they moved towards Abdulrahman's cell, New York Post reported. They appeared again a little more than 30 seconds later, while the warden found Abdulrahman beaten unconscious inside. The 31-year-old Sudanese national was discovered at around 7.53 am (local time). This was half an hour after the two prisoners were seen on the CCTV entering Abdulrahman's cell, as per the trial at Leicester Crown Court. A man sentenced for murder at HMP Fosse Way. Ashirie Smith 19 (2ndpic) was found guilty of murdering Mahir Abdulrahman at hmp Fosse Way in his cell. Smith was sentenced to a minimum term of 17.5 yrs. Thierry Robinson 21 was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to 11 yrs. — London & UK Street News (@CrimeLdn) May 30, 2025 On May 29, Ashirie Smith was sentenced to a minimum term of 17 years and six months in jail by the Leicester Crown Court after he was found guilty of killing Abdulrahman. The second prisoner, Thierry Robinson was found guilty of manslaughter and sent to 11 years in prison. A third defendant in the case, Shaan Karim has been cleared of all charges. Detective Inspector Mark Parish, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said that the victim's injuries showed a 'serious, sustained attack'. In the post-mortem examination, it was discovered that Abdulraham suffered multiple injuries, such as swelling to his right cheek and on the left side of his neck. There were deep bruises to his brain and facial tissue. Prosecution counsel Michael Burrows KC earlier told the court that Karin "kept watch" outside the cell when the other two inmates went inside and attacked Abdulrahman. During the trial, both Robinson and Smith accepted that they went inside the victim's cell. However, they claimed that they wanted to speak to Abdulraham about an incident the day before, where he is believed to have thrown water from a kettle on them. Prosecution counsel Burrows said that a day before the attack, Abdulrahman asked a prison official to move cells as he felt unsafe.

Shocking moment brawl erupts in the crowd at Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn as fan is floored by flurry of wild punches
Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn put on a show in one of the most highly-anticipated fighting in British boxing history on Saturday night - but the ring wasn't the only place that saw a flurry of punches thrown. Eubank Jr came out on top via unanimous decision in the bout, winning 116-112 on all three judges' scorecards as he fell to his knees before celebrating with his father, who made a shock appearance. There were 65,000 fans in attendance to watch history unfold, but a small section caught the eye as chaos ensued in the crowd in north London. At the floor seats inside the stadium, around a dozen fans were seen in a scuffle during the final undercard match-up between Anthony Yarde and Lyndon Arthur, which saw Yarde also win on points. An argument appeared to be taking place, before punches were suddenly thrown. Two men in particular were seen brawling, with one dropped to the floor as others tried to separate the fight. The fan who seemed to come out on top walked away after dropping the other, with others steaming in and more blows then exchanged, including again from the person who was dropped. A fight at the Chris eubank Jr v Nigel benn last night. — London & UK Street News (@CrimeLdn) April 27, 2025 A brawl erupted in the crowd during an undercard bout of Chris Eubank Jr versus Conor Benn The brawl was eventually split up as the two groups involved went their separate ways, before an ironic bell was heard to end the round of the real fight inside the ring. Some fans were seen climbing over chairs to get involved, as the situation threatened to spiral early on. A few fans appeared to throw punches before things escalated between two people specifically, which resulted in the man being dropped. In the ring, Yarde won via unanimous decision, coming out on top 115-113, 116-112, 116-112 on the three judges' scorecards. It was the third fight between the two, with Yarde winning 2-1 overall. It was perhaps closer than the scorecards suggested, but was a well-received final undercard bout before the main event. The main event also lived up to its billing, with Eubank Jr coming out on top 116-112 on all three scorecards. It was a bout that ebbed and flowed, with Eubank Jr ending his opponent's run of 23 wins three years on from when their rivalry first started and their original bout was scheduled before Benn's drugs test drama. Eubank Jr dropped down in weight, missing weight on the day before the fight and being fined nearly £400,000 because of it. He weighed in fine on the day of the fight. That didn't impact him in terms of the result, though, with the favourite coming out on top in all three judges' scorecards. Lee Every, Kieran McCann and Mark Bates all scored the bout 116-112 in Eubank Jr's favour.
