Former Longhorn Scottie Scheffler joins Tiger Woods as only repeat winners at Memorial

Former Longhorn Scottie Scheffler joins Tiger Woods as only repeat winners at Memorial Scottie Scheffler is dominating pro golf. The Texas Longhorns golf alum, fresh off winning the PGA Championship two weeks ago, has become only the second repeat winner at the Memorial. Only Tiger Woods, who won three times in a row (1999-2001) had repeated at the tournament in Dublin, Ohio is hosted by golf legend Jack Nicklaus. Scheffler surged to the lead at Muirfield Village on Saturday and held on with his trademark machine-like efficiency on Sunday. After celebrating the win on the 18th green, Scheffler was embraced by Nicklaus, sitting greenside. Nicklaus exclaimed, "Well, you did it again." The Dallas native was the only player to break par all four days. He now has three wins on tour this year, which includes his third major championship at Quail Hollow. His season started slow after cutting his hand over the holidays severe enough that it needed surgery. The former "ESPN GameDay" guest picker will play next in two weeks in the U.S. Open at Oakmont. Elite four-star WR names Texas in top eight schools

Elite four-star WR names Texas in top eight schools It's getting down to the nitty-gritty when it comes to the recruitment of four-star wide receiver Kohen Brown. He's extremely sought-after with 41 total offers, which includes one from Texas. Speaking of the Longhorns, they have made Brown's list of his top eight schools per national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman. Rivals has Brown as the No. 243 overall player and the nation's No. 74 wide receiver. They also have the 6-foot, 180-pounder as the No. 34 recruit out of Texas. It was a pedestrian sophomore campaign for Brown as he amassed just 116 yards and 11 receptions and scored one touchdown in eight games. However, he had a breakout year as a junior in 2024. Brown registered 54 catches for 1,084 yards and 11 scores while also gaining 138 yards and scoring two touchdowns on the ground. He also contributed on defense a bit with 11 tackles and two sacks. Texas didn't offer Brown until a few weeks ago, but he already has an official visit set up for June 6. Texas board of regents approve Steve Sarkisian raise, extension

Longhorns Wire The University of Texas System board of regents has approved a raise and contract extension for head football coach Steve Sarkisian. Sark is coming off a second consecutive season in which the team reached the semifinals of the college football playoffs. The new deal extends Sark's contract by one year through the 2031 season and raises his 2025 salary from $10.4 million to $10.8 million. Sarkisian's annual raises will push his salary to $12.3 million by the final year of the deal in '31. Sark agreed to the contract extension in January soon after the Texas coach was named as a possible candidate to fill one of several NFL head coaching vacancies, including the Dallas Cowboys. The regents also approved raises and one-year contract extensions for special teams coordinator Jeff Banks and linebackers coach Johnny Nansen. Banks is extended to 2027, when he will earn $1.3 million. Nansen was extended to 2026, when he will earn $1.2 million. Texas is the only team to make the CFP two years in a row. The Longhorns reached No. 1 in both polls during the 2024 season and played in the SEC championship game in its first year in the conference. The 50-year-old Texas head coach is 38-17 in four seasons on the 40 Acres. NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.
