2 metro Phoenix off-ramps will close for 2 months. What drivers should know
Two of the Valley's highway construction projects will include the closure of select off-ramps over the next two months.
The northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) and westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) will both have off-ramp closures as part of their ongoing construction projects, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
ADOT urged drivers who would normally use the ramps to plan for alternate routes and to allow for extra travel time while crews continue to work on the widening projects.
Real-time highway conditions are available at the az511 app (download for Apple or Android devices) or by calling 511.
The northbound Loop 101 off-ramp at Raintree Drive will be closed for two months as of Monday, according to ADOT.
The ramp will be reconstructed as part of ADOT's ongoing freeway Pima Freeway Improvement Project between Shea Boulevard and Princess Drive/Pima Road that started in January 2024.
Ramps between Shea Boulevard and Pima Road/Princess Drive will be reconstructed to fit the widened freeway during the course of the two-year Loop 101 project.
ADOT will add one lane in each direction along 4.5 miles of the Pima Freeway north of Shea Boulevard, convert the Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard interchange to a diamond configuration and install new signs, traffic signals and lighting.
The entire $108 million project is scheduled for completion in early 2026.
Alternate route: Exit northbound Loop 101 at Cactus Road then use northbound Hayden Road or 94th Street to reach Raintree Drive.
The westbound Loop 202 off-ramp at Cooper Road is scheduled to close for approximately two months starting at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to ADOT.
The closure will allow crews to reconstruct the ramp as part of the ongoing Loop 202 widening project in Chandler and Gilbert.
The $200 million Loop 202 Improvement Project will add lanes and interchange improvements along 8 miles of Loop 202 between Loop 101 (Price Freeway) and Val Vista Drive in Chandler and Gilbert.
Alternate route: Use the westbound Loop 202 off-ramps at McQueen or Gilbert roads while the exit at Cooper Road is closed.
