Sunshine Village art show at Chicopee senior center
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A local agency is celebrating Autism Appreciation Month with resources they can provide across three cities in Hampden County.
Every year, Sunshine Village usually celebrates this month with an art show and reception at the mayor's office in Chicopee. But since the city hall is under renovation, they brought a resource table to the RiverMills Senior Center.

Sunshine Village supports individuals with disabilities and those on the autism spectrum. Inside the senior center in Chicopee, the resource table included information about the agency and its clients' artwork. Some of the artwork included ink-splattered mugs and photographs of the city. Staff say they want to shine a light on the work their clients do every day.
'Whether they have jobs in the community, whether they volunteer, or maybe their receiving services, day habilitation services,' said Corinne Dumont, Community Relations Manager at Sunshine Village. 'Every one of them has something to offer and to give to our community.'
The agency serves more than 200 individuals a day in Chicopee, Three Rivers, and Agawam.A client from their culinary team was there. He talked about his volunteering efforts at Lorraine's Soup Kitchen and Kate's Kitchen. All month long, they will have artwork on display at the Agawam and Monson Public Library.
