The 'Hidden In Pieces Tour' will see the band reimagine both their greatest hits and deep cuts with piano and string arrangements in a series of residency-style shows at smaller venues. 'The dearly departed David Lynch would say: 'all you need to do is turn on the light and the darkness goes,'' the band said in a statement. 'To let our love light shine we will be digging deep into our back catalogue. We'll be playing songs that are rarely (if ever) performed, alongside all time favorites with new arrangements to delight.' Get Yeah Yeah Yeahs Tickets Here The 'Hidden In Pieces Tour' will officially kick off across the pond on June 16th in Manchester, where the trio will play to the O2 Apollo. They'll then play multiple shows across North America, including Mexico City, Los Angeles, Nashville, and Chicago, before closing with two nights at New York City's Beacon Theatre on July 29th and 30th. YYYs have also announced that a portion of ticket sales from their Los Angeles shows will be donated to the SoCal Fire Fund to provide aid to those suffering in the LA fires aftermath. Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday, March 21st at 10:00 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster. An artist presale will open on Wednesday, March 19th at 10:00 a.m. local time (sign up for access via the band's website). This year marks 25 years since Yeah Yeah Yeahs's were founded in New York City. After releasing their 2013 record Mosquito, the band entered a brief hiatus from 2014, reuniting in 2017. They later released Cool It Down, their fifth album, which Consequence named the fourth best album of 2022. Most recently, the trio released 'Turn Into Redux' as part of the Los Angeles Rising benefit album. ‘Los Angeles Rising' Benefit Compilation for L.A. Wildfire Victims Features Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Devo, PJ Harvey & More
A compilation of previously unreleased songs benefitting Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts, Los Angeles Rising, was released on Thursday morning (Feb. 6) exclusively on Bandcamp. The 16-track compilation pulled together by Bauhaus/Love and Rockets drummer Kevin Haskins and producer Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), features songs by PJ Harvey, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Gary Numan, Primal Scream, the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea and John Frusciante, Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Devo and U.S. Girls, among others. 'As the wildfires were raging and destroying thousands of homes around Los Angeles, both my neighbourhood and Nick's were instructed to evacuate,' wrote Haskins in a statement announcing the comp whose proceeds will go to the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. 'But we were the lucky ones. The fire threatening our homes and recording studios was thankfully extinguished by firefighters just minutes away, but countless musicians and friends lost everything.' 'This harrowing experience and witnessing the monumental destruction of entire communities, inspired Nick and I to team up to create a compilation album to raise money for the less fortunate,' Haskins added. 'We reached out to our musician friends for unreleased recorded gems and the response was incredible! PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, Jarvis Cocker, Primal Scream, Gary Numan and Devo are just some of the artists that rushed in to help.' The album is just the latest in a series of charitable efforts to help out Angelenos impacted by last month's devastating wildfires, which resulted in at least 29 death and the destruction of 16,000 homes and structures. Earlier this week, organizers said the recent FireAid all-star benefit show raised an estimated $100 million, while the Recording Academy and MusiCares' said they raised $24 million for fire relief over Grammy weekend. Nick Cave, R.E.M., Devo among artists releasing music for wildfire benefit
Some of music's leading figures are at the forefront of two wildfire relief benefit albums, a compilation of new releases, live and previously archived recordings. The records, titled 'Los Angeles Rising' and 'Good Music to Lift Up Los Angeles,' will release on Bandcamp Thursday and Friday, respectively. The former features 16 tracks, including unreleased recordings from legendary Australian outfit Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey, Gary Numan, Primal Scream, Devo and Danny Elfman. Other notable songs include 'Turn Into Redux,' an alternative version of Yeah Yeah Yeahs' hit song off of 2006's 'Show Your Bones.' Jarvis Cocker of Pulp also lends an acoustic rendition of the timeless 'California Dreamin',' recorded back in 2020. The project, led by Bauhaus' Kevin Haskins and record producer Nick Launay, is the fruit of tragedy. The two thought up the benefit album after having to evacuate during the recent wildfires. 'I took my garden hose and soaked my yard and decks, and then took off,' Haskins recalled. 'It was very stressful and I ended up in grid lock traffic getting through Hollywood.' On the other side of the fire, Launay faced a similar process. But they 'were the lucky ones,' as many musicians and friends in the city faced the destruction of their beloved homes. 'Nick and I both reached out to every musician [and] band that we know and Nick Cave and PJ Harvey were the first to respond,' Haskins told The Times. 'Once they were on board, the response was incredible. It has been a very heartwarming and inspiring experience to witness this wonderful show of humanity, when there's so much negativity surrounding us these days.' It was befitting that the album cover would be created by longtime Los Feliz denizen and artist Shepard Fairey, who completed his work the day Haskins reached out to him. 'Los Angeles Rising' is donation-based with a $10 minimum and all proceeds will go to Sweet Relief, a nonprofit charity for professional artists and industry workers. Similarly, 'Good Music to Lift Up Los Angeles' is another compilation album being released by Good Music, the 2020 brainchild of author Dave Eggers and Jordan Kurland. The pair released other comps in 2020 and 2022, titled 'Good Music to Avert the Collapse of American Democracy' and 'Good Music to Ensure Safe Abortion Access to All.' Both projects raised a combined total of over $800,000. Now, they're back with a 90-song, single-day release project featuring the likes of Modest Mouse, Interpol, Toro y Moi and R.E.M. It certainly won't disappoint fans, offering everything from new music and live versions to remixes and demos, highlighted by the Postal Service and Death Cab For Cutie's cover of Depeche Mode's 'Enjoy the Silence.' The album, priced at $20.25, will donate all of its Good Music proceeds to California Community Foundation's Wildfire Recovery Fund and L.A. Regional Food Bank. Bandcamp will match this, donating 100% of their share to MusiCares.
