How dementia-stricken Bruce Willis bonds with his granddaughter Louetta

has offered a sweet glimpse into her father Bruce Willis ' relationship with his granddaughter, little Louetta. In an interview with People, the star, 36, described about how 'obsessed' her famous family is with baby Louetta, the two-year-old daughter she shares with her ex-boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas. The youngster serves as a bright spot for Rumer's father Bruce, who is battling dementia. 'Even with my dad, given the challenges that he's dealing with, whenever we go over there to visit, his face just lights up and he gets so excited and is so sweet with her,' she said of her father. 'My family is so incredible with her. I feel so lucky, and she's so lucky. I mean, they are obsessed with her.' And Louella also brings much joy to her famous grandmother, Demi Moore. 'They love each other. I mean, you should see her face light up when they're on FaceTime when we're away,' Rumer said of Louella and her mother Demi. 'She just gets so excited and it's sweet, and my mom is so incredible with babies. She always has been, and so it's such a delight to see them together,' she said, adding they were 'so silly and wonderful.' Baby Louella has clearly made an impact on Rumer's family. Last year The House Bunny star gushed to that she feels 'very blessed' to be Louetta's mom and that she is 'the most amazing kid.' 'She's so happy and wonderful and smiley. She's joyful all of the time.' The Willis family has remained extremely tight knit despite Demi and Bruce's divorce in 2000 after 13 years of marriage. They celebrate holidays together along with Bruce's wife, Emma Hemming Willis, and their two young daughters and they have rallied around the Glass actor amid his tragic health battle. Rumer said that baby Louetta's 'face lights up' when she hears her phone's FaceTime ringer as she knows it's an incoming call from family. 'She'll try to grab the phone and see who's on it and her face lights up with a megawatt smile.' Rumer also gushed over how 'sweet' it's been to see Demi become a grandmother. 'I think grandmas are inherently very different than how they are as mothers to a certain extent because it's all of the joy [of a child] without any of the responsibility,' she explained. 'There's just such sweetness.' Bruce was stepped away from public life after his diagnosis of frontotemporal aphasia in 2022. The condition progressed and the family announced he was suffering from frontotemporal dementia in 2023.

Rumer Willis gushes over bond shared between daughter Louetta, dad Bruce Willis

Rumer Willis is soaking up all the moments that her parents get to share with daughter Louetta. "My family is so incredible with her. I feel so lucky, and she's so lucky," Willis told People about the bond her daughter Louetta has with her parents Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. "I mean, they are obsessed with her." The actress, who is the new chief creative officer for Serniby, a wellness technology startup, said that Louetta is also fond of her grandparents. Willis said, "She just gets so excited and it's sweet, and my mom is so incredible with babies. She always has been, and so it's such a delight to see them together." "They're so silly and wonderful," she added. Willis, who welcomed Louetta in 2023, added that her dad, who was diagnosed with aphasia in 2022 and frontotemporal dementia in 2023, "lights up" when he sees her. She added that despite her dad's health challenges, the "Die Hard" actor "gets so excited and is so sweet with her." Elsewhere in her interview, Willis said that motherhood has made her reflect on her own relationship with her Academy Award-nominated mom. "My appreciation for my mom has always been there, but I think inherently [and] inevitably, it has to just deepen. And I also think the way that you love your child just reminds you, 'Oh wow, my mom, that's how she loves me,' " she said. She added, "I just have such appreciation and deep love, and I think it's made us so much closer in a way that's been so beautiful."

Demi Moore feared daughter Rumer wouldn't 'make it' through childbirth

Demi Moore feared her daughter Rumer wouldn't "make it" through childbirth. 'The Substance' star was by Rumer's side when she delivered her little girl Louetta in a waterbirth at home, and Demi has now admitted she worried about her daughter's pain threshold. She told PEOPLE magazine: "It was really incredible ... Rumer had a home birth, and there was a moment when I thought: 'Oh boy, I don't know if she's going to make it', like she has a different pain threshold than I do. "To just see her move into her own power and focus, it was a really extraordinary, beautiful moment." Rumer, 36, previously admitted she was terrified about giving birth even though she was following the plan she set out to deliver her daughter at home with her loved ones by her side. During an appearance on the 'Informed Pregnancy' podcast, Rumer explained: "I was sitting with everyone outside, and I was just crying. "And I was just saying, 'You know ... I don't know if I can do this. And this is the birth that I want. I want to do it at home. But I just don't know if I can do it. It was really a kind of ... It was really a kind of ... psycho spiritual experience ... [After getting into the birthing tub] ... the contractions were getting really intense, like getting to that point where it's the overwhelming pain. I start moving in the water. Like, I don't know, some sort of sexual mermaid. "I let go, I actually let myself surrender to ... what was happening. And my body ... just downloaded what to do." However, Rumer still endured a scary experience as Louetta was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. She explained: "My midwife and my partner [Derek Thomas] caught her. It was the wildest thing. She had a cord wrapped around her neck, but it was also wrapped around her body in like almost like a prom sash. "We had four hands under there, under the birth stool. I'm going, 'Give me the baby. Give the baby' ... But then, as soon as they untangled her, she was in my arms ... [It was] the most ecstatic, joyful moment of my entire life."

Bruce Willis' Daughter Rumer Makes 'Weird' Confession About 'Taking Baths' With Her Adult Sisters

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's daughter, Rumer Willis, opened up about her unconventional Idaho upbringing, close bond with her sisters, and the decision to co-sleep with her daughter, Louetta. The actress defended her parenting choices, acknowledging public scrutiny due to her famous family. Despite splitting from her partner shortly after their daughter's birth, Rumer Willis has praised their strong co-parenting dynamic, which is inspired by her parents. During a conversation on the "What in the Winkler!" podcast, Rumer spoke about her childhood in Idaho. She shared that she and her sisters, Scout and Tallulah, grew up in a household where they were never alone, whether sleeping or bathing. The 36-year-old actress said, "We all still take baths together, my sisters and I. And that's just the kind of house that I grew up in. People might think that that's crazy and weird, but I don't." Rumer also revealed that she continues to share a bed with her mother, Demi Moore, now 62, who recently won a Golden Globe for her role in "The Substance." "I don't think it's weird," she explained to hosts Stacey Winkler and Zoe Winkler Reinis, per the Daily Mail. Now a mother herself, Rumer hopes to maintain the same close bond with her daughter, Louetta. She said, "Honestly, I hope [my daughter] Lou will, like, still sleep in bed with me when she's my age...I co-sleep with Louetta and have not spent a night away for her since she was born." Explaining the reasoning behind her decision to co-sleep with her daughter, Rumer shared: "I always think about it as imagine if you took a baby gorilla or a dog when it was two weeks old or three months old, and had it sleep in a different room than [its] mom." "Everyone would look at you like you were crazy. But yet we're like, 'Oh no, that kid can sleep through the night. It's got to fend for themselves, got to learn how to self-soothe,'" Rumer said. "They can't even feed themselves!" She went on to point out that even adults struggle with self-soothing, noting, "By the way, we as adults don't even know how to self-soothe. We call a friend. People drink wine, people do drugs, people eat an entire tub of ice cream." Later in the conversation, the "Doctor Odyssey" star acknowledged that, as a public figure, her parenting choices will always be under scrutiny. "At the end of the day, the unfortunate reality is that — because of who I am and because of who her grandparents are — no matter what I do, people are gonna have an opinion about [Louetta], about how I'm raising her [and] what I'm doing," Rumer admitted. Rumer, who celebrated eight years of sobriety on December 31, welcomed her daughter, Louetta Isley Thomas Willis, during her relationship with singer Derek Richard Thomas. Though the two ended their romance last August, their bond as co-parents remains strong. In an interview with People Magazine, Rumer credited her parents, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, for setting a remarkable example of healthy co-parenting. "Derek's my best friend, and that has not changed," she said. "We have found an amazing way to keep our friendship and our loving co-parenting relationship. And I think both of us are so happy that we can have that for ourselves as well as for Lou." Reflecting on her own childhood in Idaho, Rumer praised her parents for never putting "the kids against each other," something she saw many of her friends' families struggle with. "I never had to split a holiday. We never had to split family vacations or Christmases or birthdays. And I think that a lot of the time, it's just our own ego," Rumer shared. Last year, Rumer confirmed that she and Thomas had broken up. On August 22, the actress answered fan questions in an "Ask Me Anything (AMA) Uncensored," which she hosted on her Instagram Stories. When a fan asked if she and Thomas were "still a couple," Rumer replied, "Nope I am single momming it and co-parenting." She further said she's "so grateful" for their 16-month-old daughter Louetta Isley Thomas Willis, who was born on April 18, 2023. Rumer also spoke to her fans about her love for Louetta. She wrote, "She is the best thing in my life and I am forever grateful I was able to have the time in that relationship for her to come into my life." Beyond her personal life, Rumer keeps busy with brand collaborations, sharing sponsored content with her 1.2 million Instagram followers for companies like Maev, doublesoul, Dame, Free People, Christy Dawn, Vera Bradley, Milk Teeth, Pura, Lalo, and Apolis. Last summer, she wrapped filming as horse-riding widow Katherine Atherton in Johnny Remo's "Trail of Vengeance," a western set in 1875 that has yet to land a distributor. She's also set to appear in Rohit Karn Batra's indie drama "The Gun on Second Street," tackling the issue of gun violence alongside Poppy Delevingne and Tom Arnold. Rumer first made a name for herself starring in six of her famous parents' films, including "Now and Then" (1995), "Striptease" (196), 9 "The Whole Nine Yards" (2000), "Hostage" (2005), "Empire" (2017-18), and "Air Strike" (2018).
