Morocco and France strengthen security ties with new joint action plan
Today in Rabat, Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, and his French counterpart, Louis Le Gui, signed a joint action plan to strengthen cooperation between Morocco's security services and the French National Police.
A statement from Morocco's General Directorate of National Security and Territorial Surveillance explained that the plan, signed during Hammouchi's reception of Le Gui, who was accompanied by the French Ambassador to Rabat and a high-level security delegation including several directors from the central directorates of the French National Police «establishes a shared roadmap for combating transnational organized crime between the two brotherly countries.'
The statement added that «the significance of this joint plan lies in its formalization of the longstanding, distinguished cooperation mechanisms between Moroccan and French security services. It also aims to expand this cooperation by creating joint working groups to tackle various organized crime challenges, including tracking fugitives and individuals wanted internationally».
During the ceremony, the Director General of the French National Police expressed deep appreciation for the role played by Morocco's National Security and Territorial Surveillance services in supporting French security efforts, particularly in combating terrorism, apprehending suspects wanted by French justice in organized crime cases, and securing the Olympic Games in Paris. He also reaffirmed France's commitment to providing full support to Morocco in enhancing security protocols for future international sporting events hosted by the Kingdom.
Alongside the working sessions, French Ambassador Christophe Lecourtier presented Abdellatif Hammouchi with the medal and insignia of Officer of the Legion of Honor, an esteemed decoration awarded by the French Republic, following the formal ceremonies required for such high honors.
