Trump, Vance meet with Pope Leo's Florida brother, 'a major MAGA fan', at White House
President Donald Trump met with Pope Leo XIV's Florida brother Louis Prevost at the White House on May 20, after praising Prevost to reporters at the Capitol earlier in the day, calling him a "major MAGA fan." Trump told reporters he likes the pope and both of his brothers, but spotlighted the eldest brother, Navy veteran and Port Charlotte resident Louis Prevost. "I like the new pope and I like the pope's brother. You know, one of the pope's brothers – actually both of them – but one in particular is a major MAGA fan. Did you know that? He lives in Florida," Trump said. "And I look forward to getting him to the White House. I want to shake his hand, I want to give him a big hug." Later that day, the White House visit happened. Louis Prevost and his wife Deborah met with Trump and Vice President JD Vance in the Oval Office. "Great meeting between President Trump, Vice President Vance, and @Pontifex's brother, Louis Prevost and his wife Deborah," Special Assistant to the President and Communications Advisor Margo Martin posted on X, along with a photo of the meeting. The Prevost brothers — Louis, John and Robert (Pope Leo XIV) — grew up in Chicago in a traditional Catholic family. Louis Prevost said his youngest brother Robert wanted to "play priest" when he was 6 and set his sights on the priesthood as a freshman in high school. Their parents, neighbors and even strangers told Robert, "You're going to be pope someday," he said. Robert Prevost's election as Pope Leo XIV left Louis Prevost excited, happy, mind blown and a little worried about how the papacy would impact their relationship. 'I just freaked out and said 'It's Rob, OMG.' I was up, dressed, out, just going nuts,' he told WBBH. 'We can only hope that we can maintain that closeness, and we don't do anything to embarrass him,' he said. Louis Prevost attended Pope Leo's inaugural mass at the Vatican on May 18. The brothers shared a hug after the service. Trump told reporters Louis Prevost is a "major MAGA fan." In an interview with Piers Morgan, Louis Prevost said, "I don't want to create waves that don't need to be there because I'm a MAGA type and I have my beliefs,' he said. 'I don't need to create heat for him. He's going to have enough to handle as it is without the press going 'the pope's brother says this.' He doesn't need that.' Asked about his reposts of controversial social media memes, including one calling Nancy Pelosi a drunk (expletive), and how they might affect the pope, Louis Prevost said he will "tone it down." "He knows I am who I am," he said of the pope. "He's well aware of my position. He knows I'm probably not going to change and I don't think I will, other than to, just like you say, tone it down." Pope Leo's MAGA brother gets VIP treatment with Trump and Vance in the Oval Office
Louis Prevost, the older brother of Pope Leo XIV, met with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office on Tuesday after the president expressed his desire to meet with him and 'give him a hug.' The White House posted a photo of Prevost and his wife Deborah meeting with the president and Vice President JD Vance in the Oval Office. Prevost, 73, a retired Navy veteran living in Florida, drew headlines after his brother Robert was elected Pope, prompting scrutiny of their history of social media posts surrounding politics. While Pope Leo's old social media posts shared critical articles of Trump and Vance, his brother Louis was decidedly a Trump supporter, with a more colorful denunciation of Democrats like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Trump responded warmly to the news that Louis Prevost was a fan of his politics, telling the press he would invite him to the White House. 'I like the Pope. And I like the Pope's brother. You know one of the Pope's brothers is a major MAGA fan... He's got MAGA. He's got Trump. I look forward to getting him to the White House. I want to shake his hand. I want to give him a big hug,' Trump told reporters on Tuesday morning as he visited Capitol Hill. His wish came true just hours later as a grinning Trump posed next to the pope's brother. The White House did not respond to a Daily Mail request for details about the meeting. Louis Prevost traveled with the official delegation from the United States to the Vatican to attend the pope's inaugural mass on Sunday. The delegation included Vance and his wife Usha, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his wife Jeanette. Pope Leo shook hands with the delegation after the Mass but gave his big brother a massive hug Prevost conceded in an interview with Piers Morgan he would now be more disciplined about his posts on social media now that his brother is the Pope. 'I can tell you, since then, I've been very quiet, biting my tongue,' he said. 'I don't want to create waves that don't need to be there because I'm a MAGA type and I have my beliefs.' Louis explained his posts were an attempt to 'stir the pot' on politics. 'Sometimes I like to go stir the pot,' he said. 'A lot like I think President Trump does. He says things just to stir the pot. Cause it's fun to like get into some of these debates with people sometimes from the other side.' Prevost also revealed he served on the same ship in the Navy as former Trump advisor and dynamite MAGA figure Steve Bannon. 'I know Steve Bannon, I don't know if he knows me but we served together in the same ship in the Navy, and I know what he was like,' Prevost said, joking he had been trying to get Bannon to attend some of the reunions with his shipmates. Despite concerns from some MAGA figures about the new pope, Louis Prevost tried to reassure them about his brother. 'He's not left, he's not right, he looks at the whole scene, takes information from both sides and somehow finds a way to go down the middle and not ruffle too many feathers,' he said. Vance and the American delegation met with the pope the following Monday and presented him with a personalized Chicago Bears football jersey and a letter from President Trump to the United States inviting him to visit the United States. 'If and when he meets with President Trump, I don't doubt there will be some bumps in the discussion and some heated conversations,' he conceded in his interview with Morgan.

Pope Leo's MAGA brother meets with Trump in Oval Office
Pope Leo XIV 's MAGA -loving brother was photographed inside the Oval Office beside Donald Trump and JD Vance, just a day after the vice president held a private meeting with the new pontiff in Rome. Louis Prevost, 73, and his wife, Deborah, were snapped smiling beside the commander-in-chief and his vice president behind the Resolute Desk on Tuesday. The couple had been invited to the White House for a 'meeting,' according to senior Trump aide Margo Martin. 'Great meeting between President Trump, Vice President Vance, and @Pontifex's brother, Louis Prevost, and his wife Deborah,' Martin tweeted along with the photograph. Speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill earlier Wednesday, the president boasted that Prevost, of Florida, had MAGA and Trump coursing through his veins. 'I like the pope and I like the pope's brother,' he said. 'Did you know that he lives in Florida? He's got MAGA, he's got Trump, and I look forward to getting him to the White House. I want to shake his hand. I want to give him a big hug.' The meeting came after Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio held their first formal meeting with Pope Leo at the Vatican on Monday. The meeting included an exchange of gifts and the pontiff's invitation to the White House. A day earlier, Vance led the U.S. delegation to Leo's inaugural mass, at which Louis Prevost was seated next to Second Lady Usha Vance. It was seen, in part, as an attempt to reset relations between the White House and the Holy See. While Leo, 69, has already been criticized by the MAGA movement for apparently opposing Trump's America First agenda, the pope's brother has unapologetically shared his support for the president. Just weeks before Leo emerged from the conclave as the first American to lead the Roman Catholic church, Louis Prevost appeared to share several posts on Facebook in support of the Trump administration. In an April post, Prevost shared a clip of California Representative Nancy Pelosi expressing concerns about the trade deficit in 1996. 'These f***ing liberals crying about tariffs is just unreal. Do they not know that there is a thing called video?' the caption of the Facebook post, which Prevost did not write, read. 'Just listen to what this drunk c*** has to say. In the mid 90's.' In another post last month, Prevost shared a video of a mock support group for those suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome. In separate Facebook posts shared after Trump returned to office, Prevost voiced support for Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency while commenting on gender issues and Russia's war with Ukraine. Prevost later removed some Facebook posts peddling conservative conspiracy theories. He appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored Monday and admitted that he would 'probably tone it down,' given his brother's recent promotion.

Pope Leo XIV's MAGA Brother Gets White House Blessing From Trump
Louis Prevost — the self-described 'MAGA-type' older brother of new Pope Leo XIV — and his wife Deborah met with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance at the White House on Tuesday. They had a 'great meeting,' White House aide Margo Martin wrote on social media. It's not clear what they talked about. Prevost has previously shared vile content online that trolls and trashes Democrats. 'Sometimes I like to go stir the pot,' he confessed to Piers Morgan last week. 'A lot like I think President Trump does. He says things just to stir the pot. Cause it's fun to like get into some of these debates with people sometimes from the other side.' U.S. Navy veteran Prevost, who lives in Florida, did tell Morgan that he'd be dialing the rhetoric down following his sibling's election to pontiff. 'I don't need to create heat for him,' he said. Conversely, the new pope, the first born in the U.S., has previously shared posts that slam Trump and Vance. Louis Prevost sat next to second lady Usha Vance and her husband, the vice president, a Catholic convert, during the pope's inaugural mass at The Vatican on Sunday. During the mass, Leo urged the rejection of hatred and division. Louis also joined the U.S. delegation's meeting with the pope on Monday. JD Vance has invited the pope to visit America on an official trip. Pope Leo XIV hugs brother after inaugural mass: Heartwarming video goes viral
What happens when your 'baby brother' becomes the Father of the whole Catholic community? Louis Prevost is here to prove that brotherly affection doesn't change one bit. Pope Leo XIV might have become the official leader of the Catholic Church , but to Louis 'Lou' Prevost, he's still just his 'baby brother'. On May 18, the two Prevost brothers hugged and had a brief chat after Leo's inaugural mass at St. Peter's Basilica. Take a look at that precious moment: Pope Leo XIV's inaugural mass: On May 18, Pope Leo XIV made his way through the tens of thousands gathered in St Peter's Square for his inaugural mass. The 267th pontiff looked relaxed as he smiled and waved at the faithful while riding in an open-top Popemobile. He would stop every now and then to bless babies in the crowd who were passed up to him by their delighted parents. His inaugural mass, too, gave away hints through the homily of a seemingly humble man. Pope Leo XIV said during the mass, "I was chosen, without any merit of my own, and now, with fear and trembling, I come to you as a brother, who desires to be the servant of your faith and your joy." Once again, Leo presented himself as a pontiff pledging to sow peace and unity, and critical of economic systems that marginalise the poor. The brothers' bond: As Louis Prevost embraced the newly appointed pontiff, who in fact is his 'baby brother', and the video was posted online, it went viral in no time – as a testament of their brotherhood. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Ative o software antivírus do seu computador Clique aqui Undo One internet user took to X to say, 'This moment was so touching. You can see the pride and love in his older brother's eyes,' while another netizen commented, 'If Mama and Papa were alive, they would have made their favourite family dish. Congratulations to him, and God bless his family.' Another person mentioned, 'There's something special about three brothers!!! Surely you know a Mother that has had three sons and they were all three different.' Someone else even requested for a lip reader so that they would be aware of the exchange that took place between the Prevost brothers. Louis Prevost, the older brother of Pope Leo XIV, recently appeared on an interview with Piers Morgan, after Leo was elected as the first US-born pope , and it emerged that his sibling had shared vile content online, including one video that called former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) a 'drunk c***.' In the interview with Morgan, Louis said that he'd likely tone down the right-wing, pro-Donald Trump posts on social media now that his older sibling is the head of the Catholic Church. Prevost told Morgan he's now gone 'quiet' online and is 'biting my tongue.' He explained, 'I'm a MAGA type, and I have my beliefs. I don't need to create heat for him.' When Morgan asked if the Vatican had called requesting he 'ease off the gas' and if he'd change his 'social media strategy going forward,' Louis came up with, 'No one has contacted me yet,' he replied. 'I'm hoping that it doesn't get that far, but you never know, as this stuff comes up.' He added, 'Sometimes I like to go stir the pot. A lot like I think President Trump does. He says things just to stir the pot. Cause it's fun to like get into some of these debates with people sometimes from the other side. ' But Prevost said he had realized 'now that I see some of this coming back at me, that I should probably tone it down.' He added that he's 'backed off a lot of media, and I don't see myself really getting too much involved' until speaking to his brother and figuring out if and how it's affecting him. Louis also informed Morgan that the Pope knew 'I am who I am' and was 'well aware of my position,' adding, 'He knows, I'm probably not going to change, and I don't think I will other than to just, like you say, tone it down.'
