Work release inmate accused of walking off job site in Tickfaw
TICKFAW, La. (WGNO) — Deputies with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office are searching for a work release inmate who allegedly walked off a job site on Thursday, June 5. According to the TPSO, 42-year-old Donald Ray Wilson was in a program that allows inmates to work jobs with partner businesses outside of the jail. Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office investigates in-custody death The TPSO was notified that Wilson was allegedly seen leaving his job site on the 51000 block of Highway 51 in Tickfaw, heading north. Deputies are coordinating with local law enforcement to find him. According to the TPSO, Wilson was serving time for a parole violation as a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Shreveport chef to compete in Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A popular Shreveport chef was announced as one of the participants in the Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off coming to south Louisiana in late June. Chef Blake Jackson, owner of Mae & Co. and Heron Seafood, is one of 12 chefs chosen by Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board, who announced the participants in the 18th Annual Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off on Wednesday. 'One of the biggest parts of Louisiana's culture is the connection between good food, good friends, and family. In all corners of our state, you can find culinary creations from recipes passed down through generations. The outstanding chefs we have competing this year have taken those recipes and put their own spin on them and use Louisiana seafood to help create the culinary identity Louisiana has today,' said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. 'This event is the perfect opportunity to celebrate our diverse heritage, the great contributions of chefs around our state, and the hardworking people of the Louisiana seafood and restaurant industries that make Louisiana truly a place to Feed Your Soul.' Shreveport chef to appear on Food Network's 'Beat Bobby Flay' The cookoff will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at The Harbor Center in Slidell. The winner will represent Louisiana as they compete for the 'King or Queen of American Seafood' at the Great American Seafood Cook-Off in New Orleans on Saturday, August 2, at the Ernest N. Oil and gas mixture release reported near Garden Island Bay
PLAQUEMINES PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The U.S. Coast Guard, Spectrum OpCo, LLC, and the Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinator's Office are responding to an oil and gas mixture release near Garden Island Bay. Coast Guard officials said the mixture was released in a marsh environment near a Garden Island Bay production facility's well on Saturday, and an overflight 'confirmed the presence of crude oil.' Construction underway for new Lacombe Nature Park A Unified Command among the organizations was formed and is working with the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, Forefront Emergency Management and other agencies on response efforts. The operator's oil spill response plan has reportedly been activated. Coast Guard officials said no injuries or wildlife impacts have been reported.
