According to an arrest citation, Richard Conkin, 73, responded to a woman's ad on the NextDoor app where she sought babysitting or home cleaning jobs. As she struggled, Conkin was said to have told her not to scream or it would be worse. The citation noted that he offered to pay her an extra $20 if she said nothing. Court records show that Conkin was arrested that same evening and charged with first-degree rape. He was booked into the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and is being held on a $250,000 cash bond. Conkin is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on March 31.
