Where is Tessa James now? Home and Away star reemerges as she opens up about heartbreaking cancer diagnosis and her VERY different career change: 'My life stopped'

Tessa James had all the makings of a rising Australian TV star until she received a shock cancer diagnosis at the age of 23 —so where is she now? The former Home and Away star, 34, who got her start on Neighbours in 2006 before moving to the rival soap, discovered she had Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2014. Despite being at the height of her career, Tessa said 'her life stopped' and she made the difficult decision to step away from acting, reported Mamamia on Friday. 'My life stopped, to be honest. I think for any 23-year-old, their life is moving pretty quickly,' she told the publication. 'You're working a lot of things out, you're trying new things, you're just busy, making the most of your life. And my life just stopped.' Tessa went on to say she began asking herself if she could manage balancing a successful acting career with her cancer treatments. She turned to stars like Delta Goodrem, who was also diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2002, for inspiration. But after six months of chemotherapy, which saw her become completely cancer-free in 2020, she made the decision to step away from acting for good. Known best for playing the role of Nicole Franklin on Home and Away from 2008 to 2011, Tessa also starred in Beaconsfield, Love Child, and Spin Out. But her rise to stardom came to a grinding halt in 2014 when she discovered a lump above her collarbone while pursuing an acting opportunity in Los Angeles. Now the ex actress has transitioned into the world of interior design, following in the footsteps of her mother and sister who are interior architects. Tessa is currently the Director and Head of Communications at AKI Design, a boutique interior design studio she runs with her family. But she says the career change wasn't entirely due to her cancer diagnosis and subsequent recovery. 'While I was having my children, I really felt this kind of heavy shift in what I was able to give to my career,' she said. She went on to explain she was unable to give as much to her acting career because she 'wanted to give a lot to her children'. Tessa married former NRL star Nate Myles in 2011, and the pair share sons Saynt, six, Jaguar, three, London, two, and their newborn, who they secretly welcomed in 2024. The lovebirds announced they were expecting to welcome their fourth child back in January last year. The couple told The Saturday Telegraph at the time Tessa was just weeks away from giving birth to their new addition. 'I am feeling really good. I have three other busy boys, so I don't have time to feel anything but good,' Tessa said. She then explained the couple like to keep their life very private and not share many details on social media. 'I think consciously not sharing too much is really nice. It's important to keep something private. That is very sacred for us,' she added. Tessa first met Nate through their mutual friends Jodi and Braith Anasta in 2009 and got engaged to him the following year. They tied the knot in 2011 before welcoming their first child in December 2017. Tessa's pregnancy came three years after she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma at age 23. Nate stood by Tessa's side throughout her health struggles and chemotherapy. 'I was extremely lucky. I got through what happened to me and a lot of people don't,' she told Elle Australia in December 2017. 'For Nate and me, it was our first real challenge as a couple and it was hard and not nice, and not glamorous and very confronting.'

Drag Race's Top 4 RuVealed: Which Queen Will Win Season 17? And Who Should Win?

And then there were four. Following a dramatic lip sync battle to Diana Ross & the Supremes' 'Love Child,' Suzie Toot was sent tapping into oblivion on Friday's episode of RuPaul's Drag Race, leaving just four queens in the running to win Season 17. Participating in the grand finale on April 18 (MTV, 8/7c), we have the polished Jewels Sparkles, the versatile Lexi Love, the hilarious Onya Nurve and the stunning Sam Star — a perfect Top 4, as far as I'm concerned. In fact, it would be hard to argue that any other queens belong in this elite group, though I'm sure Suzie is currently writing a one-woman show about how she was wrongfully eliminated. More from TVLine Liza Minnelli Making Drag Race Debut in Season 17 Grand Finale - First Look Drag Race's Latest Twist Ending Was Predicted by Daya Betty Who Is Drag Race's 'Piggy of the Week'? It Doesn't Mean What You Think! (Exclusive Sneak Peek) So, which queen do we think will snatch the crown? Looking at the numbers, Onya leads the pack with four challenge wins, followed by Sam with three, and Lexi and Jewels with two. But just like the final round of Mario Party, it doesn't matter how many stars you've earned along the way — anyone can come out a winner, baby. That's because the finale is a non-stop lip sync battle, and we know that all four of these queens can hold their own on the dance floor. We've seen Sam, Jewels and Onya wipe the floor with other queens to keep themselves in the competition (twice for Sam and Jewels). And while Lexi has never had to battle for her life, per se, we did see her lip sync against Crystal Envy in the season premiere — and she's good. It depends on which queens are paired together in the lip syncs, but my prediction is that either Onya or Lexi will be named America's Next Drag Superstar, and I wouldn't object to either outcome. To me, Onya has always carried herself as someone who believes she's going to win, while Lexi has always carried herself as someone who already won. It's reminiscent of how I felt about Sasha Colby back in Season 15. Don't get me wrong, I won't be disappointed if Jewels or Sam pulls off a surprise win. This is a rare season in which I basically love everyone in the Top 4, and that includes both of these stunners. They've already proven me wrong with their versatility in the competition, as I initially underestimated them as mere look queens, so it's entirely possible that I'll end up eating my words once again. And while we're talking about winners, which Season 17 queen should take home the title of Miss Congeniality? Kori King is a definite contender, with all the positive energy she brought to the Werk Room. But I could also see this one going to Southern sweetheart Sam, or even Hormona Lisa, or perhaps Lydia B-hole Kollins. The only thing I know for sure is that it won't be Arrietty. No matter how this shakes out, it's guaranteed to be a fierce final face-off. But as we've seen countless times on Drag Race, the queen we think should win isn't always the queen we think will win. So cast your vote in our polls below, then drop a comment with your predictions for the Season 17 finale. Once Marvel's Next Big Thing, Jonathan Majors Now Says He's Looking at a Non-Studio Superhero Comeback

It's been almost two years since Jonathan Majors was fired as Marvel's Kang the Conquerer, and now, the actor might be looking to make a superhero comeback. Yet, instead of pursuing the 'big guys' like DC or his former employer Marvel, Majors said his next superhero turn could come outside those studio-affiliated heavyhitters. Majors, who was poised to be the next lead villain of the Marvel franchise before being found guilty of one count of misdemeanor third-degree assault and one count of second-degree harassment of his ex-girlfriend in 2023, told The Hollywood Reporter that he is considering a role in another superhero film. More from IndieWire Todd Solondz on 'Palindromes' Restoration and His Stalled 'Love Child': 'It Could Happen Tomorrow... or It Could Never Happen' Why Universal Should've Released 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy' in Theaters '[There is] no relation to the big guys, DC or Marvel, but [it's] a pretty wicked story,' Majors said of the project. 'I'm glad to be reading.' Majors first appeared as Kang in 'Loki' Season 2 and 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,' and was set to lead at least two other MCU installments, 'Avengers: The Kang Dynasty' and 'Avengers: Secret Wars.' After Majors' firing in the wake of his convictions, Marvel reportedly considered recasting the character, with even Oscar nominee Colman Domingo meeting with Marvel about taking on the role. It was later decided that Robert Downey Jr. would return to the MCU, this time as villain Doctor Doom. Subsequently, he 'Avengers' film was retitled 'Avengers: Doomsday.' (Downey previously played Iron Man for more than a decade in the MCU.) To THR, Majors recalled the moment he learned he was axed by Marvel, sharing that a member of his legal team told him immediately following the end of his trial. 'He goes, 'I'm just gonna tell you now,'' Majors said. 'That way you're not surprised, and you can start processing it. They fired you. Marvel fired you.'' Majors added of being dropped by his representatives and numerous other slated projects, 'There were days when it was like, 'Is this real?' It's a heartbreak like I've never experienced and it just compounded and compounded.' Now, Majors is attached to star Martin Villeneuve's independent thriller 'Merciless,' which marks one of his first roles since the trial. (Martin Villeneuve is fellow filmmaker Denis Villeneuve's brother.) 'Sometimes it feels like it's not going to happen,' Majors said of rebooting his acting career. 'And sometimes it feels like we start next week.' It helps that Majors' 2023 feature 'Magazine Dreams' is now receiving distribution, too. Searchlight Pictures initially acquired the film following its Sundance 2023 debut, but the Disney outfit dropped the film following the allegations against Majors; the feature was later acquired by Briarcliff Entertainment and will be released in theaters March 21. '[It was a] very expensive movie,' Majors said of the indie in which he plays an aspiring bodybuilder. 'Not the budget, but the cost of it as an artist physically and emotionally.' There were also allegations of Majors' erratic violent behavior on set; his lawyers later claimed it was part of Majors' 'method acting.' Majors previously told TMZ that he can only hope for a career resurgence, and even would still play Kang if Marvel would hire him again. 'Hell yeah! Hell yeah! I love him. I love Kang,' Majors said. 'If that's what the fans want, and that's what Marvel wants then let's roll. Hell yeah.' Majors added that he was 'heartbroken, of course' to not be part of the planned MCU rollout. 'I love Kang. Doctor Doom is wicked, though,' Majors said.
