Lizzo's New Single Finally Becomes A Hit, With Some Help From A Major Pop Star
Lizzo's 'Still Bad' debuts at No. 11 on Digital Song Sales after a duet with Kelly Clarkson, marking ... More her first chart hit in over a year. ROSKILDE, DENMARK - JULY 01: Lizzo performs at Roskilde Festival 2023 on July 01, 2023 in Roskilde, Denmark. (Photo by Joseph Okpako/WireImage) It's been well over two months since Lizzo released her most recent single, "Still Bad." The track was a commercial disappointment in its earliest days, as the singer, songwriter and rapper was surely hoping it would become a major hit and kick off her latest album campaign, as she's currently hyping the world for her forthcoming Love in Real Life. But sadly, that didn't turn out to be the case. Long after the tune was shared with the public, it finally becomes a bestseller in America, thanks to an assist from another one of the most successful women in pop music. "Still Bad" debuts at No. 11 on Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart this week. That tally ranks the bestselling cuts on platforms like iTunes and Amazon, and this time around, that includes Lizzo's most recent offering. Luminate reports that in the past tracking period, "Still Bad" sold just under 2,700 copies. "Still Bad" may be new to the Digital Song Sales chart, but as mentioned, it's not actually very new as far as pop music goes. Lizzo's cut experiences a 286% gain in pure purchases from one frame to the next. Just days ago, it ended a tracking period with 700 sales — and the following stint, it adds about 2,000 to that sum. "Still Bad" experiences such a boom after Kelly Clarkson invited Lizzo onto her daytime talk show to perform the tune. The singers turned it into a duet earlier this month, but it's Lizzo who enjoys the spoils on the Billboard rankings, as Clarkson doesn't earn credit on the cut. "Still Bad" earns Lizzo her twelfth placement on the Digital Song Sales tally, and her first since 2023. In August of that year, "Pink," the song she wrote and recorded for the Barbie soundtrack, peaked at No. 22. "Still Bad" has already been present on one Billboard ranking for more than two months. This frame, it drops seven spaces to No. 37 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart in its tenth stay on that radio roster. The tune previously peaked at No. 21.

Lizzo releases music video filmed after Met Gala
US pop star Lizzo has released a new music video filmed at the Met Gala. Lizzo, real name Melissa Viviane Jefferson, revealed the video for Still Bad (Animal Style) in a stream on Twitch before posting the full clip to her Instagram account. Advertisement 'DROPS TONIGHT,' she teased in an Instagram post showing the song's mp3 file on Thursday. 'MEET ME ON TWITCH! 5PM!' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lizzo (@lizzobeeating) The song is a re-released alternate version of her single Still Bad, which originally debuted in March. The upbeat pop number shows clips of the Good As Hell singer arriving at the Vogue-run gala in a black and white two-toned gown before cutting to footage of her running through the streets of New York City, partying in an arcade and lip syncing in a limousine. 'I like the demo version more and I had people in my head telling me that it wasn't good enough,' she wrote on BlueSky of the decision to re-release the song. Advertisement 'But I'm learning it's not about what's good enough, it's about what I WANT.' Her upcoming album, Love In Real Life, is due to be released this summer. The album will mark her first since the musician and her production company were sued by ex-dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez, who made a number of claims, including allegations of sexual, religious and racial harassment. At the time, the singer, 37, said the claims were 'as unbelievable as they sound' and insisted she would 'not let the good work I've done in the world be overshadowed by this'. Advertisement Her first single since the scandal, Love in Real Life, was released in February. Fans speculated over her return to music after the Grammy Award-winner posted a video of her spray painting the words 'bye bitch' on to a large printout of her album cover Special on Valentine's Day. Lizzo attending the 2025 Met Gala (Matt Crossick/PA) Earlier in the month, it was reported she had told a Twitch stream about her plans, saying: 'I've been working on new music for the last two years.' In 2023 she released the song Pink, which featured on the Barbie movie soundtrack, and a remix of the song Special. Advertisement A month after the allegations in August 2023, similar claims were made against Lizzo by stylist Asha Daniels, who said she was subject to racial and sexual harassment and a hostile work environment while on tour with Lizzo. A US judge dismissed the specific allegations against Lizzo.

Lizzo slams Trump tariffs with SNL comeback look, sparking buzz online
Lizzo made a politically charged return to Saturday Night Live this weekend, delivering a fiery performance and a not-so-subtle jab at U.S. President Donald Trump. The 36-year-old singer took the stage in a crop top emblazoned with the word 'TARRIFIED' — a bold dig at the administration's latest tariffs policy. The appearance marked Lizzo's first SNL performance since facing a lawsuit from three former backup dancers accusing her of misconduct, including sexual harassment. Despite the ongoing legal battle, which she has denied, Lizzo appeared energised and unapologetic during her performance on the Jon Hamm-hosted episode. Fans quickly flooded social media with reactions. 'LIZZO'S SHIRT SAYS 'TARRIFIED' OMG IM DEAD,' wrote one X user. Others hailed the look as 'iconic,' 'legendary,' and 'a whole statement.' Some critics, however, were less impressed, with one viewer quipping, 'She needs to tariff some of that food she's eating.' Under a backdrop of the American flag, Lizzo performed her latest single 'Still Bad,' and later returned to the stage in a fitted, sheer gold gown with a dramatic cape to debut 'Love In Real Life.' The single, released in February, is her first solo effort since contributing 'Pink' to the Barbie film soundtrack.

Lizzo claims Britney Spears is doing a Janet Jackson impression, sparks fierce debate among fans
Lizzo recently ignited a heated debate on pop culture when she declared Janet Jackson as the "true Queen of Pop" during her appearance on the Sibling Rivalry podcast. In a conversation with former RuPaul's Drag Race stars Bob the Drag Queen and Monét X Change, the 'Truth Hurts' singer stated that while pop music icons like Madonna and Cher have had significant impacts, Janet Jackson was the original pop diva who paved the way for others, including Britney Spears. 'I'm just putting it out there, it's not about who's better, it's about who was first,' Lizzo explained, adding that Jackson's influence was foundational to the genre. She continued by claiming that Britney Spears was 'doing a Janet impression,' a statement that stirred fans of both pop stars. Lizzo clarified that she wasn't undermining Spears' talent but emphasizing that Janet was the pioneer. 'There were no such things as Pop divas before Janet. Janet was first,' she asserted, further explaining that Spears herself had acknowledged Jackson as her inspiration. The pop world quickly responded. While many of Jackson's fans rallied behind Lizzo's statement, defending her views on Jackson's legacy, Britney Spears' supporters were not as receptive. Many fans took to social media to challenge Lizzo's characterization of Spears as an 'impersonator,' noting that Britney had long praised Jackson as a muse. Some fans pointed out that Spears had crafted her own distinct identity in pop music and questioned why Lizzo would label her as merely an imitator. Despite the backlash, Lizzo's remarks have sparked a broader conversation about the influence of pop icons on one another, with many acknowledging Jackson's significant role in shaping the modern pop landscape. Lizzo, who is also gearing up to star in a biopic about rock and roll icon Sister Rosetta Tharpe, continues to make waves with her candid commentary and new music, including tracks like Love In Real Life and Still Bad.
